Meet Alex Cordova of Salt Lake City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Cordova

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey everyone!

Alex Cordova here!

It’s interesting because I usually don’t take the time to talk about myself outside of my passion for Techno and DJing, but let’s dive in! I was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming—an unexpected start, right? That’s where my journey began. Growing up, my parents introduced me to electronic music through their cassette tapes of 90s electronic tracks. Little did I know I was listening to Trance and Techno long before I realized it.

In 2011, during the economic recession, I moved to Tlaxcala, Mexico (big shoutout to my friends and family there!). It was during my teenage years that I discovered my deep love for Electronic Music, initially through Big Room House. Although I was fascinated by music production at that time, I didn’t think much about DJing yet.

Interestingly, I stumbled into DJing by accident, thinking it was simply a way to create electronic music back then (young and naïve, I know!). I drew inspiration from legends like Tiësto, Hardwell, and Martin Garrix—I readily admit my taste has evolved since then.

As I explored further, I found myself drawn to Trance, which pushed me to master the intricacies of music production. The moment I played at the “Holi Fest Tlaxcala” Pre-Party in Mexico was a game-changer; the energy of performing for a big crowd was nothing short of exhilarating, and it solidified my path as a DJ and producer.

However, the journey hasn’t been easy. Breaking through in Mexico is challenging, and by the time I turned 19, I decided to return to the States. I was determined to set up my music production studio and create my own work. Truthfully, I got sidetracked by various jobs and lost sight of my dreams until a pivotal moment hit me: “Why am I doing this?” That realization in 2023 reignited my passion!

With my friends, Alex and Uriel, supporting me, I moved to Salt Lake City, and that’s where the real adventure began. I immersed myself in local and underground events, which have become my favorite. I evolved into Techno, embracing its complexity and captivating tones that resonate deeply with me. I played at eta.45 (thanks to Dum Boy Sticky for the support!) and landed my first major gig at Kloud, hosted at the Masonic Temple (shoutout to my friend Albert for making that possible). Since then, I’ve been promoting, producing, and spreading the word about the beauty of Techno.

There’s so much more I could share, but I’ll save the full story for my autobiography!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This is a topic that often flies under the radar, but as you grow older, you gain a deeper understanding of how the world functions. You’ll encounter both remarkable and challenging individuals along your journey. There may be moments when you feel like giving up or questioning, “Is it worth it? Will I ever secure another opportunity?” However, I’ve learned a crucial lesson: never wait for someone else to give you the green light to take action. You have the power to create your own opportunities. The more you embrace this mindset and take charge of your path, the more success will come your way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a DJ and producer specializing in Techno, with occasional ventures into Trance. My shows are known for a signature catchphrase that resonates with my audience—it’s represented by the initials “LFG!” While I won’t disclose it here for audience and age considerations, anyone who’s attended my performances understands its power.

When I create my sets and music, I envision an experience that is nothing short of Cinematic, designed to electrify the community and keep everyone energized.

What I take the most pride in is the vibrant community in Utah that’s eager for a fresh sound—one where they feel valued and can escape the outside world, immersing themselves entirely in the essence of music!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I appreciate most about Salt Lake City is its vibrant underground scene, and I’m excited to see it continue to bloom and shine even brighter! As for what I like least about the city, I haven’t given it much thought, but overall, I’m really impressed with what it has to offer.
