My love for weather began in childhood, with memorable experiences like witnessing massive waves during a tropical storm and enjoying powder days at Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire. The Weather Channel was a constant presence in our home, fueling my fascination.
During college, I developed a passion for powder snowboarding, often traveling to northern Vermont to chase storms. This pursuit continued post-graduation, driving me to expand my weather knowledge to locate the deepest snow. After five years of dedicated learning, I began writing snow forecasts for various websites.
To enhance my skills, I pursued a graduate degree in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Utah. Simultaneously, I gained hands-on experience by chasing and documenting storms across the western United States. This combination of academic knowledge and practical experience has given me unique expertise in identifying and capturing the deepest powder conditions.
With 15 years of experience chasing, forecasting, learning, and refining my skills, I now offer my expertise to fellow powder enthusiasts. My goal is to help skiers and snowboarders maximize their powder experiences through various services.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey wasn’t without obstacles. Initially, balancing powder chasing with a full-time job was challenging due to financial and scheduling constraints. Pursuing a Master’s degree while chasing storms added another layer of difficulty. Transforming this passion into a career remains an ongoing process filled with uncertainty and challenges.
