Today we’d like to introduce you to Kali Doyle
Hi Kali, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Creating has always been a central passion in my life. Growing up in Upstate New York, I attended my first convention in 2015, cosplaying as a Star Trek character. It was my first real encounter with cosplay culture, and I was instantly captivated—I knew this was a world I wanted to be a part of. Although access to the arts was limited, my determination was strong. Over the years, I taught myself sewing whenever possible and saved up to buy cosplays when I could.
In 2018, I launched a YouTube channel, sharing vlogs about my college life, cosplay adventures, and cosplay reviews. Now, six years later, I’ve relocated to Utah for work, and my creative pursuits have expanded. I now stream games, create videos documenting my cosplay builds, travel to conventions, and much more. These days, I focus my content on cosplay and fashion creation, always inspired by the endless creative possibilities. Creating isn’t just a hobby; it’s a vital part of who I am.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely had its bumps. Cosplay and sewing can be expensive pursuits, and in the beginning, fabric and tools were out of my reach. I couldn’t create the elaborate cosplays I dreamed of like others my age. I ended up studying computer science and now work as a developer outside of my content creation. It’s a lot to juggle, but it supports my creativity and has been incredibly rewarding—I’m grateful I pushed through school to reach this point.
Relocating across the country added another challenge. The supportive, inspiring community I had built in New York was suddenly out of reach, and while I haven’t quite found that here in Utah, I’m finally in a place where I have both the tools and the time to fully pursue what I love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a video creator best known for my cosplay work and sewing projects. My focus has historically been on anime cosplay, especially characters popular with other women, like those from Sailor Moon and Apothecary Diaries. While I still love creating those, I’ve recently started leaning more into video game-centered cosplays and designing non-cosplay clothing as well. I’m proud of how far I’ve come—not because I’m the best at styling wigs, sewing, or any single skill, but because I’m always learning. Sharing my learning journey with others has become a big part of what I do, and I feel so fulfilled when I read comments like “This helped me” or “I love your videos.” Knowing that I can help or inspire others brings me a ton of joy.
There are a few things that set me apart. Even as I evolve, I’ll always stay true to my pink aesthetic—everything around me is pink, and my videos are edited with a bright, pink style that reflects my love for vibrant colors. I’ve also been told I’m incredibly down-to-earth; I don’t try to make everything look perfect. If something didn’t work out as planned, I’ll share that openly. I say what’s on my mind, which often leads to funny, candid editing moments. Most importantly, I always have fun with what I do, even during the most challenging or confusing moments.
