Today we’d like to introduce you to Clemens Kaudela
Hi Clemens, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Basically I was always gravitating towards bikes, motocross, freestyle and the punk / alternativ attitude that it came with. My grandfathers brother was national motocross champion in the late 1950´s which he always told me stories about. When I was 10-12 years old I was already jumping any bike over a wood board stacked on a bricks in the backyard with my friends. This was around 2002. In that year we met friends of the family in the close by restaurant where we figured out that the have dirt jumps in their farm close by and I should visit them. In this summer I did cycle those 10km every single day to their farm to hang out, hit and build jumps with Jakob. In between we did watch the movies kranked, new world disorder as well as rampage to get inspired. This was where my fire for the sport got lit and never extinguished. Since the area I grew up in had now mountains I quickly figured out that we have to stick to dirt jumps even though the dream was big mountain freeride. Progressing quickly with my first backflip in 2005 that was followed by tail whips and 360s I was competing in Slopestyle until end of 2013 where I fractured my leg. After this I focused a while more on building and switch to big mountian freeride with events like Nine Knights and Darkfest. A new fire sparked and I could perform really good there. This brought back the idea of competing ar rampage. In 2023 I knew that I would have to make a really sick video of me riding in Utah in order to get the invite for rampage. This video is called “the minister”. This got me the invite to Rampage.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. First of all, locally I had no jumps, tracks that I could ride. Anything we wanted, we had to build it ourselves. Having no mountains around made it very difficult for me to develop proper Mountainbike technique riding berms and steeps. If there is a will, there is a way to get it done. Injuries have always made it difficult but reflecting and figuring out what went wrong was always the key to come back with no mental blockages.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
This is my business to plan and build Mountainbike trails, jumps, pump tracks, show tracks, really anything for bikes. Since I have learned how to build jumps growing up with the sport, I always had to analyze why a jump worked well or not. Additionally I went to wood-engineering high school, which gave me great knowledge in carpentry but also how to approach building projects. I am specialized in making the most perfect pro tracks for competition. Doing this in a methodical way, meassuring out every jump makes me very time and traget efficient. Most proud of I am that I progressed jump building of big air tracks at events like Nine Knights / Audi Nines or darkfest where we pushed the boundaries of the sport. This made me famous world wide within the scene.
My brand also offers consulting work and track design. For example I did plan out with exact dimensions the tracks for Red Bulls Roof Ride in Poland and also David godzieks train project. In these projects I brought in schedules, competition formats as well as recommended material use, layout, track dimensions. Furthermore my company offers asphalted tracks, wooden Skateparks, Flowtrails, Bikepark style trails. Since I did ride everything myself for years, I have the knowledge that matters when meeting the exact criteria for the application. A blue amateur track has to be much different than e technical pro track.
