Hi Jenn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into publishing didn’t start in a traditional way. I came from a background in web design and digital marketing, running my agency, Biz Social Marketing Agency, where I helped businesses grow their online presence through SEO, branding, and automation. Along the way, I realized that content was king, but more importantly, I saw how powerful a book could be in establishing authority, attracting clients, and opening doors. That’s when I decided to write my first book.
The experience wasn’t easy. I encountered restrictive contracts, vague promises, and a serious lack of transparency in the publishing world. But instead of walking away, I leaned in. I educated myself on every aspect of self-publishing, writing, formatting, ISBNs, royalties, distribution, and marketing. Not only did I publish my own bestselling books, but I also saw an opportunity to help other business owners avoid the mistakes I made and create books that actually work as business tools.
In 2015, I co-founded Elite Online Publishing with Melanie Johnson. What started as a spark at a marketing conference in San Diego turned into a company that has helped over 300 authors become #1 bestsellers. We held our first book-writing retreat that same year, and every single attendee became a #1 bestselling author. That success proved that the systems and strategies we created could help anyone with a message turn it into impact and income.
Today, I’m proud to be an 18-time #1 bestselling author, a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller, and a publishing mentor for entrepreneurs and thought leaders. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned, from marketing to mindset, and channeled it into helping others write, publish, and promote books that grow their brand, build their legacy, and change lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges was filing for bankruptcy in 2010. and a divorce in 2013. As a single mom trying to run a business during a tough economy, it was one of the hardest times in my life. I had to completely rebuild—not just financially, but mentally and emotionally. That experience forced me to get serious about systems, money management, and building a business that could thrive no matter what. It was incredibly painful at the time, but it gave me resilience and clarity that still drives me today. There were also the everyday challenges of growing a business: building the right team, learning to delegate, keeping up with ever-changing technology, and juggling client demands with creative work.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was spending time with my grandfather, Reuel Call, at his gas stations and convenience stores. He was one of the founders of Maverik Country Stores, and I loved watching him interact with customers, manage the business, and lead with such energy and vision. He was a true entrepreneur and an incredible role model. I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but those moments sparked something in me—they gave me a front-row seat to what it means to build something from the ground up and serve people with excellence.
I remember him cleaning off the gas pumps at a Maverik in Wyoming, and I was just soaking it all in, watching him get things done. It was empowering. I saw the value of hard work, consistency, and customer care. That early exposure to entrepreneurship planted the seeds for the work I do today—helping others build their brands, tell their stories, and create something meaningful and lasting.
