An Inspired Chat with Emilee Nieminen of Tooele

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emilee Nieminen. Check out our conversation below.

Emilee, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I have learned about my customers is how deeply our relationships can be formed. From starting out as complete strangers, to becoming who I call family. I am so grateful for all of my customers.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Emilee, I own Emileescissorhands. Emileescissorhands is a self owned cosmetology business. I do all things hair AND nails. I’ve been in this industry for three years now, and my gratefulness is still growing beyond measures. Something unique about my business, I would say would be the environment I work in. I work in my own shop, and it is a one on one appointment session. I take pride in knowing you feel safe and comfortable coming to see me.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released would be the part of me that expects people to think I am perfect. Before anything else, I am Emilee. I’m a human being, not a robot. I provide services and often times feel the expectations from clients that they expect me to be perfect. Most all of the time I am proven wrong. My clients show me that I can be authentically ME, not perfect, not correct, not anything other than me.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that without it, we would never see success. Without the rain, you would never see rainbows. Without the night, you would never see the day. There is a balance of appreciating suffering and success.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say my closest friends would say my relationships really matter to me. Without my relationships, whether it be my partner, my family, my friends, etc. I wouldn’t be me. My people really matter to me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I had 10 years left, I would probably stop working and build relationships closer with my partner, my family and my friends. I would still make an effort to be close with my customers, but spend more time outside of the work environment with people I love the most.
