Inspiring Conversations with Sandy Hancock of Body By Sandy LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Hancock.

Hi Sandy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a passionate advocate for health, fitness, and longevity, dedicated to helping women over 40 regain their strength, energy, and confidence. My journey into fitness wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about taking control of my body, my health, and my future.

I grew up on a family farm, surrounded by hard work, wholesome food, and a deep respect for health and wellness. My childhood was filled with early mornings tending to animals, growing organic vegetables, and learning the value of fueling my body with real, nourishing foods. My parents instilled in me the importance of a strong work ethic, discipline, and taking care of my body naturally.

Looking back, I realize that this foundation shaped my approach to fitness and health today—that taking care of yourself is about consistency, not perfection.

From Gymnastics to Bodybuilding: Finding My Passion for Strength

My love for fitness began with gymnastics, where my dad’s encouragement led me to train and eventually land a spot on my high school team. But after graduating, I missed the challenge of pushing my body and staying strong.

At 18, I joined a local gym and fell in love with group fitness and aerobics, dedicating myself to it for 20 years. But by 38, I started noticing changes—I was thin but not strong, and I wanted more muscle tone, definition, and energy. That’s when I discovered weight training, and everything changed.

After training for a year and a half, I felt inspired to push myself further. At 39, I stepped on stage for my first bodybuilding competition, where I placed runner-up. Later that year, I won the Overall Title at the Utah Women’s Bodybuilding Competition.

But something was missing—I wanted to embrace my femininity while showcasing my strength. When the Figure Division was introduced in 2001, I knew it was for me. Wearing a rhinestone suit and heels while showcasing muscle and grace felt empowering.

For two years, I competed, consistently placing runner-up, but I wanted that first-place win. I went back to the drawing board—perfecting my posing, tweaking my nutrition, pushing my training harder, and figuring out exactly what I needed to step into my strongest, most confident self.

In 2003, at age 42, I finally won my height class, Masters, and Overall at the NPC Utah Cup Figure Competition, proving that age is just a number when you train with purpose. The following year, I competed at the NPC Figure Master Nationals in Pittsburgh, placing 3rd and earning features in Muscle Mag and Oxygen.

Overcoming Setbacks & Learning the Power of Mindset
Despite my success, life threw me a curveball—a devastating divorce forced me to put competitions on hold for six years. But during that time, I discovered something even more powerful: the mental side of transformation.

I immersed myself in self-improvement, fitness education, mindset training, and even hypnosis. I realized that true transformation isn’t just about workouts and nutrition—it starts in the mind. If you don’t believe in yourself, if you don’t work on the inner game, no diet or workout plan will ever stick.

This revelation reshaped my entire coaching philosophy: you must shift your mindset before you can truly change your body.

Competing Again & Proving That Strength Has No Age Limit

At 55, I felt a pull to compete again—one last time, for myself. While I no longer had the muscle mass for Figure, I set my sights on the Bikini Division.

Stepping on stage that final time, surrounded by friends and supporters, I felt grateful, proud, and empowered. It was never just about trophies—it was about challenging myself, proving what’s possible, and embracing my body at every stage of life.

My Mission: Helping Women Over 40 Get Strong, Lean & Confident
Now, my passion is coaching women like YOU—women who want to:
✅ Lose weight & build lean muscle (without hours of cardio)
✅ Boost metabolism & balance hormones naturally
✅ Train efficiently to sculpt a strong, feminine body
✅ Feel younger, more energized, and more confident than ever before

I’m a certified NASM & AFAA personal trainer with over 20 years of experience in training, nutrition, and mindset coaching. I specialize in helping women over 40 break free from restrictive dieting, build strength, and step into their most powerful, vibrant selves.

This isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about building a sustainable, strong, and confident YOU—for life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest obstacles has been learning how to work with my body instead of against it. As I moved through my 40s, 50s, and now into my 60s, I had to unlearn the old “eat less, move more” mindset that left me tired, soft, and frustrated.

Figuring out how to manipulate the body in a healthy, sustainable way—especially as hormones shift—has taken years of trial, error, and education. At 63, I’ve finally created a system that works for me and my clients: build muscle, fuel properly, and stay consistent.

Some of the tools that have helped us overcome these challenges are staying committed even when progress feels slow, developing a strong and positive mindset, and trusting the process instead of chasing quick fixes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Body by Sandy is built for one purpose: help women over 40 feel strong, energized, and confident again. I specialize in helping women rebuild their metabolism, balance their hormones, and create a body they feel proud of—without extreme dieting, endless cardio, or sacrificing wine, chocolate, or their social life.

I’m known for my strength-focused approach and my ability to simplify things that usually feel overwhelming. My signature programs teach women how to build muscle, eat enough to fuel their metabolism, and create a mindset that supports long-term success.

What sets me apart is that I walk the walk. At 63, I’m living proof that women can look fit, feel powerful, and create lasting change at any age. I focus on realistic, sustainable habits—not quick fixes—and I build real relationships with the women I coach. My clients always say the same thing: “You make this feel doable.”

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the community I’ve built: Metabolic Hormonal Reboot System —women who are rewriting the rules of aging, one rep at a time. My brand stands for authenticity over algorithms, muscle over dieting, mindset over perfection, and connection over comparison.

I want readers to know that my coaching is personal, supportive, and backed by results. I help women transform their bodies, but more importantly, I help them transform how they feel—strong, capable, and in control of their health again. My 1:1 Metabolic Hormonal Reboot System, along with my challenges and resources, gives women the roadmap they’ve been missing.
