Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Veno.
Hi Michael, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When you scroll through social media all you see are these amazing photos, shot in surreal places, with views that one would die to see, so wouldn’t it be cool it be the one to take them? So I did just that, I bought myself a cheap DSLR and started to teach myself the ins and outs.
Originally from the North East, I didn’t have too many “travel destinations” nearby, and with my newfound hobby of surfing and my curiosity about something new, I headed to the opposite side of the country with so many desirable road-trip destinations within reach… and don’t forget the waves!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always ups and downs and I have yet to face them all as I try to expand my reach on different platforms and meet like-minded people wherever I go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It’s hard to say exactly one thing that I specialize in because, to be honest, I find myself wanting to do it all.
I get ahead of myself with that, so to break it down, I try to share my travels and my life through my lens, and in a sense making it personable to me. So you can look at my page and see not just the different state/national parks but also shots taken on the road, and soon photos of daily life in the San Diego area.
I’m just proud to be here and have moved away from the people and things I was most attached to. It has taught me a lot and sparked a new ambition to travel the West.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Soon, I see this industry becoming very saturated as it is currently only becoming more and more competitive. I would love to stay out of this competition and simply do this to share with the viewers, my life, and my art, through my lens.
Who knows what the future brings, I will continue to create and share as much as can.
