An Inspired Chat with Lo Cohen of Salt Lake City

We recently had the chance to connect with Lo Cohen and have shared our conversation below.

Lo, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes are slow and intentional. I don’t like to be rushed in the morning, which is why I wake up two hours before I need to “start” my day. If I start work at 9, I’m up by 7 to enjoy my sacred ritual—making a matcha with homemade cashew milk and lavender syrup, taking a short walk, listening to music while checking emails, or catching up on social media

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Lauren-most people call me Lo-a Salt Lake City–based photographer with a love for capturing the real, unfiltered moments that make life magical. I picked up my first camera at 13, a gift from my dad, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Over the past decade, I’ve photographed everything from sweaty, high-energy concerts to intimate weddings, wild music festivals, and cozy brand sessions.

Originally from the East Coast, I bring a mix of adventure, curiosity, and community-driven energy to my work. I believe in making people feel comfortable, celebrated, and seen. Whether they’re in front of my lens for the first time or the hundredth.

When I’m not shooting, you can find me outdoors somewhere, on a roadtrip, or cooking for my friends, or checking out a local live show..

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Imposter syndrome once kept me grounded, reminding me there was always more to learn. But over time, it became a constant whisper that I wasn’t good enough. Letting it go meant finally being content with who I am, instead of comparing myself to who I thought I should be.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
I’m lucky to have a close group of friends I’ve known for over a decade. We show up for each other in every way-whether it’s being one another’s emergency contact or dropping off a care package when someone’s sick or hurt. Their unwavering presence and the way we truly listen to each other is something I deeply cherish.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m authentic—what you see is what you get. I’m always honest and don’t hold back, because it would be far too exhausting to be anything other than myself.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m traveling. There’s something freeing about being on the road with good music and long stretches ahead. I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures-it feels like the way we’re truly meant to live.
