Check Out Alyssa Vigil’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Vigil.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started doing tooth gems as a side hustle and it popped off more than I thought it would. I was inspired by other tooth gem artists here in Salt Lake and wanted to share this art with people close to me and closer to the area around me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a smooth road thankfully. I have a lot of friends who are artists and they helped get the word out and supported me a lot through this journey of becoming a tooth gem artist and I’m very thankful for that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Tooth Gem Artist Tooth Gem Art is a Swarovski crystal or 18k gold or white charm gold bonded to your tooth. The process of getting a Tooth Gem is quite simple and fast. I start off by wiping the tooth dry and adding Etchant Gel to the area of the tooth they want the gem placed on. I then add Bonding Adhesive and Composite Flowable to the area and place the gem on it and cure it with a curing light.

The process can take up from anywhere to 7-15 minutes depending on how many gems you are getting done. Tooth gems can last up from six months to two years depending on your lifestyle. Brushing your gems softly will help them stay on longer. It’s safe to have and won’t cause any damage to the tooth or enamel. They can easily be removed by your dentist. I didn’t have anyone there to teach me how to apply them. I had to do the research myself and learn from there.

I think what makes me different from other tooth gem artists is my drive. I appreciate my clients for their love and support. I do anything to make them happy. I offer a 30-day guarantee if their gem falls off, if they bring a friend I offer discounts, and I will find any gem they want and make any look they want possible. I want them to love their experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I lost my job due to Covid last year and it was a struggle. I think getting laid off was kind of a blessing in disguise for me. It led me to become a tooth gem artist and being able to finally go to school to become an esthetician to do what I love doing. I love seeing my client’s reactions after I finish applying their gems. It’s a wonderful feeling!
