Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was interested in opening my own store in Utah County. I decided to come into the Packaging Store to talk with the owner about the business. After talking for a few minutes he asked if I wanted to purchase the Packaging Store, that it was for sale. 8 weeks later, the purchase was completed. We have since rebranded to Ship Utah, completely remodeling inside along with expanding and adding services offered.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The venture so far has been pretty smooth so far. A lot of hard work, but when you have a customer base as awesome as we do, it makes it that much more enjoyable. Also, with the wide verity of product we get for packaging, especially the artwork, some of the pieces that come through here are amazing, it makes it that much more exciting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The main revenue streams are Mailbox Rental, Shipping, Packaging and Printing. People and business love the Mailbox Rental service for two reasons: 1) their address is a street address, 2) they can have any carrier packages delivered here included in the price. We do a lot of Art Shipping. That is something we love to do here. To see the pieces these artists create is pretty amazing. We have a 100% success rate when it comes to shipping artwork, we really take pride in our packaging processes. I would say that is what sets us apart. That and our customer service, we go the extra mile for sure. We also offer pick up services as well.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We have tried a couple different programs, some had success and some did not. We look at the potential revenue and benefit to the customer in any decision made and decide if we want to move forward or not. One thing that we are putting a lot of time and effort into is putting together a program for Mailbox/Shipping store consulting to help out future and even current store owners streamline processes and increase revenue.
