Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Elizabeth.
Hi Ariel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a bridal consultant at a local wedding dress store in the Utah valley. They were desperate for seamstresses to do alterations and one day my boss asked if I had any sewing experience. I told her I had sewn a pair of pajama pants when I was twelve and she said, “that’s good enough!” So I was thrown into learning alterations on my own and thankfully, it turned out well! I left that store and started working with Alta Moda Bridal in Salt lake City, doing alterations and redesigns. Eventually, I decided to branch out and create my own designs and that’s how Ariel Elizabeth Designs was created.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Yes and no! There have been some really great highs and some really low lows. But how can we know the sweet without tasting the bitter? The hardest times always resulted in the greatest learning experiences and I wouldn’t trade those for anything. I would say two of the biggest things I learned was 1) Be brave! Be confident in the skills and talents that you have and don’t be afraid to go for the things that you want! And 2) Don’t worry about what others say. They are fighting their own battles and unfortunately, sometimes their problems get tossed into the service that you are offering. Don’t take it personally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in custom handmade wedding dresses. From the initial meeting all the way through to the final fitting and even beyond that is truly a one of a kind experience. My clients are not just clients. They are lifelong friends! I would say the biggest thing that sets me apart from other designers is that I am able to help even the most nervous or upset bride feel confident in what we will create together. Unfortunately, I had a lot of brides that had really poor experiences shopping for dresses or getting their gowns altered. Often times they would come to me with ruined or ill-fitting dresses with only days to spare. By the end of our first meeting, their spirits were brightened and they felt confident in the solution that we created.
How do you think about happiness?
So many things make me happy! It’s hard to pick just one! In regards to my business though, what makes me happy is my clients. If my client is happy, I am happy.
