Check Out Bobbie Oscarson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbie Oscarson.

Hi Bobbie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and myself were a few weeks away from our wedding when we were coming home from a family reunion. On the drive back home we were discussing wedding plans as well as job opportunities I was currently pursuing. That spring I had graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Communication but for whatever reason was having a difficult time securing a career that I felt would help provide for my family but also satisfy my interests.

My husband owns his own business, which mainly revolves around working with resin. During our discussions between wedding planning and job searching, a picture of a preserved bouquet in resin popped up on my Pinterest feed. Sparks flew and I instantly got butterflies in my stomach.

I had always loved working with flowers but never thought of exploring it as a career but when I saw that brides were preserving their wedding bouquets into something that lasted forever, I knew that I wanted to provide that opportunity to as many individuals as possible. I turned to my husband, showed him the picture and asked if this was something we could do. My love for flowers and his expertise in resin provided the perfect scenario to make a quick glance at a picture a reality. Without hesitation, he stated, “Of course, we can!”.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road along the way. With Wild Forever Flowers being a nationwide business, that has brought a lot of learning curves of its own; from fresh flowers being shipped to me and figuring out the best processes to ensure that their flowers arrive in good shape, to shipping fragile finished pieces back to brides safely. And don’t get me started on taxes! At the end of the day I wouldn’t trade any of these struggles for the world because I have grown in more ways than I could have ever imagined and receiving messages from happy customers who love their special keepsake means more than any hardship.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create customized resin floral preservation pieces. That means people ship flowers and memorabilia to me from all across the country to be transformed into a keepsake to remember forever. I mainly work with wedding florals, whether it’s fresh or faux flowers as well as memorial flowers. Once I receive the flowers I “process” them to dry and remove any moisture from the flower itself while keeping the color and shape intact so that the flowers remain looking the same way they did originally. From there I work with each customer personally to design a layout that they love before I cast them in resin. I provide a diverse array of options for your flowers to be made into, from decorative display pieces to functional pieces like end tables, trays and jewelry dishes. The process from start to finish is a labor of love that takes 4-6 months on average to complete.

It is so incredibly rewarding and special to get to work with so many special flowers. To be entrusted with something so unique and important to someone is not for the faint of heart. There is no room for error and often has a lot of emotion tied to it. There are highs and lows, especially when you consider that I am either working with wedding flowers or I am working with memorial flowers. Nothing compares to the emotional connection I get to have with customers, without often meeting them in person.

My main focus in running Wild Forever Flowers is creating a happy experience for customers throughout the entire process. I want to my customer to have a say every step of the way. Our mission statement is “to not only provide beautiful custom preserved pieces but also provide an experience that will allow you to feel like you are a part of every detail that goes into creating your dream preservation package!” and I live by that motto everyday.

What matters most to you?
Living up to our mission statement, “to not only provide beautiful custom preserved pieces but also provide an experience that will allow you to feel like you are a part of every detail that goes into creating your dream preservation package!” is definitely what matters most to me. At the end of the day I want everyone to feel important and to know that we care about them personally. While yes this is a business that I own/ run, I don’t want my customers to feel like they are just another customer. I want them to feel like they are my sole priority through out the whole experience.
