Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Brandon
Hi Bridgette, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I mostly want to talk about the SLC Girlies Walk Club that I kind of started on accident.
My hubs and I moved to SLC in December 2023 and as you can imagine, it’s hard to make friends as an adult, especially in a new place where so many people are a part of a community that I’m not a part of. I posted a tiktok video essentially complaining about how difficult it is to make friends here and so many other girlies, and I mean like thousands of girlies, came out of the woodwork sharing the same sentiment. That video made way for the idea of a girlies walk club.
In March we had our first ever monthly walk and have continued to do so every month since. Its been a great place for the girlies to get together and build friendships. I’ve been able to meet all my closest SLC friends because of that silly little tiktok that turned into the walk club.
I’m hoping to start a book club and do other events for the girlies in the future, but since I also have a full-time office gig and sell vintage online (the Desert Moon Co on Etsy)
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Considering it’s only been 7 months, so far so good! I feel super lucky to have so many rad girlies who want to go walkin.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m so proud of the walk club because it reminds me why girlhood matters. It’s also such a fun place to talk about life and be outside enjoying nature!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I really love the boot Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. I read it once a year and it just reminds me of the beauty and creativity in every moment.
