Hi Debbie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After experiencing a series of job losses, divorce, and being faced with many other adversities in the past couple of years, I found myself at a crossroads, wondering what my true purpose was. It was a challenging time, and I felt lost but it ultimately led me to discover my passion for entrepreneurship. I’ve always envisioned myself starting my own business one day. I have always enjoyed handcrafting unique home decor for friends and family and as a hobby. I always thought about how much I would love to have my little boutique filled with a handmade decor store. Most of my recent home decor, collectible items, and jewelry I create are made with epoxy resin. I’m obsessed with the magic of epoxy resin! It is like alchemy to watch it transform from a liquid to a solid, creating unique textures and patterns. I love experimenting with colors, shapes, and designs to create one-of-a-kind pieces that add personality to any room. Epoxy resin lets me tap into my creativity and bring my imagination to life. It’s meditative, it’s expressive, and it’s addictive!” The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was leaving my comfortable corporate job to start my own business. It was a scary leap of faith, but it was also incredibly liberating. I had to navigate unfamiliar territory, face my fears, and learn to trust myself. But the reward was worth it. I have never been more determined to create a life of meaning and impact. I’ve just started my journey and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I faced many obstacles and I have persevered. I have learned to embrace myself and meet myself where I am today. My story is about resilience, determination, and a willingness to take risks. I am ready to embrace this journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While my journey is new, it has been rewarding. Im just in the building my business phase. So most of my presence right now is on social media, and ive been attending pop up markets in my community. Some struggles I’ve faced include navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, such as finding the right resources and support. But I’ve learned to embrace those struggles as opportunities for growth and learning. I’ve also had to overcome self-doubt and fear, but I’ve discovered that my passion and purpose are stronger than any obstacle. Through it all, I’ve remained committed to my vision and values, and that’s helped me stay focused and motivated.”

In my previous roles as a recruiter in talent acquisition, I specialized in finding top talent for companies across various industries for the past 20 years. I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of clients nationwide.I was known for my ability to build strong relationships with candidates and clients alike, and for my keen eye for matching the right person with the right opportunity. One thing I’m most proud of is my track record of successful placements – I consistently exceeded my targets and received positive feedback from clients and candidates alike. What sets me apart is my passion for people and my ability to understand their unique needs and goals. I have always had a passion for helping others, even through volunteer work in my community. I’m not just a recruiter – I’m a matchmaker, a career coach, and a trusted advisor.”
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and networking are crucial for growth and success. My advice? Be intentional and strategic about who you reach out to and why. Look for people who align with your values and goals, and who have experience or expertise you admire. For me, networking has been about building meaningful relationships and offering value to others before asking for anything in return. Attend events, join communities, and engage with people on social media. Be authentic, be helpful, and be persistent. And always, always follow up!
