Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Calvin Norton.
Hi Dr. Calvin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve started as a gospel promoter with Blockbuster Showdown Gold Cup Awards which was in existent since 1983.
Subsequently, after years of promoting to ten thousand participants I then started my own recorded label. We have Grammy Awards Nominee, Stellar Award Winning, and Dove Awards Winning artists we promote on radio, DSPS, and Digital Media Marketing.
As of today, We host the biggest Gospel events, we service 15 top artists, we have at least 26 Stellar Awards Nominations upon our roster of artists. Moving forward I attend to continue breaking artists around the globe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy fighting through the gates of others who hate to see you grow, however I have managed to break through and develop victory.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist (international) , Billboard top chart artist, listed as the one of the top 500 worldwide, 2X Stellar Awards Nominee artists, own my label Blockbuster Records, and I tour internationally. What makes me proud is that I do all entertainment in house. What sets me apart is that both of my tour buses are owned by my label and we show up in an executive and exclusive demeanor in concert set apart from other entertainers.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That radio is not the only source to success in the business of music. You have to articulate radio, streaming, sells, social media platforms, and live visibility to determine the most popular artists that sell tickets.
