Check Out Erica Porter’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Porter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I come from a sales and account management background in tech, where I gained strong insight into entrepreneurship but felt called to build something of my own. In 2021, during COVID, I launched a cleaning business focused on short-term rentals. What started with one client quickly grew through trust, referrals, and consistent quality.

That growth became In House Services, a full-service partner for Airbnb owners offering turnovers, cleaning, inventory reporting, light maintenance, and setup. Today, we operate with a reliable team and efficient systems, allowing us to support property owners at scale while creating flexible work opportunities in our community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey wasn’t smooth, but it was full of growth. When I left a high-stress corporate role, I imagined building full-time income with more freedom. Early on, that felt out of reach. One turnover was simple, two were manageable, but three or more quickly exposed the reality. Short-term rental cleanings aren’t flexible. They have to be done perfectly, within tight windows, every time.

As demand increased, so did the pressure. The work was physically demanding, expectations were high, and I was learning everything in real time. It became clear that if I wanted to build something sustainable, I couldn’t do it alone.

That realization led me to create systems, bring in help, and shift from doing everything myself to leading a team. What began as a part-time idea became a lesson in leadership, delegation, and building a business designed to grow beyond me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run In House Services, specializing in short-term rental turnovers with a focus on presentation, detail, and flow. We approach each space as a curated environment, not just a cleaning task.

We’re known for consistency, a strong visual standard, and treating every property with care. I’m most proud of building a team and systems that allow us to deliver thoughtful, high-quality work at scale.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is trust. I don’t like letting people down, and I carry that mindset into every relationship and every clean. When a client hands over their space, they’re trusting us with their investment, their reputation, and their guest experience and I take that personally.

I approach my work with a partnership mentality. I don’t see clients as transactions, but as collaborators. Their success is directly tied to ours, and I show up to every job with that responsibility in mind, always aiming to meet the standard and then quietly exceed it.
