Check Out Haley Toner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Toner.

Hi Haley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ten years ago, I started my education at Ctec in August 2011 during my senior year of high school, after that, I transferred over to Francois D Hair College for the remainder of my time. I then bounced around jobs for a while then settled at Image Studios for about four years, assisting and learning from master stylists, working with apprentices, and building my business one day at a time.

I worked at styling bars salons during those years so I was constantly behind the chair and honing my skills with people, and their hair. I moved to Liv Salons in the spring of 2018 and have called it my home ever since. It was a hard road and sometimes I can’t believe that I have a full clientele, and I’m very confident in my skills now.

I’m always striving to keep learning new things and this career always keeps me on my toes! I’m grateful for all the experiences I’ve had over the years, and the friends I’ve made along the way.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have only been able to fully enjoy the fruits of my labor for the last two to three years. Each year gets more and more profitable. For my first few years, I was very strapped on money, and all the money I did make when right back into the business. I had to work sixty hours a week between building my business and having a part-time job for many years just to survive.

I had to learn how to use my time better and be more intentional with the work I was doing. I had to learn how to talk to people and sound interested, and also at the same time be interesting, I had to hone my hair skills, but I also had to work hard to create an image for myself.

Customer service is a huge key element to my business, I always strive to take care of everyone in my chair, and give them an experience they can remember and enjoy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Over the years I have specialized in hair extensions and hair coloring. I have a passion for clients that want to create fuller, longer hair so they can love their hair. It gives me a lot of fulfillment to be able to see how confident it makes people feel after our time together.

Hair coloring has always been something I have been known for, I do “lived-in blonde” for clients that want to have a low maintenance look while being in style, I do a lot of gray coverage, multi-dimensional colors, and I have always done fashion colors for clients that want to invest in their own induvial and creative style.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Integrity, communication, and trust. Integrity has always been one of the core values of my business. I value doing work that I am passionate about, and I don’t do certain services that I don’t enjoy because I want to show up 100% for everyone that sits in my chair. I always tell the truth to clients of why something may be, or may not be a good idea for their hair.

Clients over the years have learned that I will be honest with them, and they can also be honest with me. I have an open-door policy so they know they can always come to me with questions, ideas, or concerns and I will do my best to give answers or a solution that they feel confident in.
