Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Amber
Janelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up I have always loved taking photos, I remember my first camera was a little Polaroid i-Zone pocket camera.
I remember taking photos of my cousins and my room. My mom had to keep buying me film for it because I used it up so quickly. Fast forward to when IPod Touch came out when I was around 10 years old, and boy did I love taking photos on that! I remember forcing my cousin to do a photoshoot on one of our family outings at Thanksgiving point when I came to visit Utah.
Fast forward to when me and my husband were engaged, he surprised me with my first professional camera. Since then I started taking pictures constantly, filling up my days with places to go and practicing taking photos. More and more I started gaining followers and clients. and more and more I started to fall deeper and deeper in love with photography. Now that little girl who was taking photos on her iPod touch at Thanksgiving Point is now a professional photographer taking bridals, branding photos and portraits at Thanksgiving point and other places in Utah. A true full circle moment! I love what I do and will continue to do it for the rest of my life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a photographer, as well as owning any business there are so many struggles I think most people have in common. Comparison,
competition and mostly self doubt.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Photography is SO broad. And I love every aspect of photography that has to do with people. I would say I specialize in portraits, couples and weddings.
I am most proud of myself for always following my passion even when the doubts creep in. I have met so many incredible people through my photography, so many that I can now call close friends.
Something that sets me apart from others I would say is that i definitely don’t have a set “style” I edit per mood, per location and theme. I love how each session can be unique!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have SO many supporters, I would first say my husband who has always encouraged me, helped me, and supported me along the way. Secondly I would of course say my clients/friends who constantly keep coming back year after year and brining me into their lives and stories.
