Check Out Jarrett Ransom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarrett Ransom.

Hi Jarrett, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a self-professed Nonprofit Nerd. It’s true… I like to nerd out over all things nonprofit! I started my company, The Rayvan Group, LLC, in 2009 after being let go during *that* economic downturn. Growing up in an entrepreneurial household played a big part in who I am. I like to joke – but it is true – that growing up, I became very familiar with what it’s like to eat steak one month and spam the next.

My parents both instilled grit and tenacity into my childhood and it’s certainly come in handy. But I must give credit to my mom for the volunteer experiences she gave me as a child. She had my brother and me baking cookies for Ronald McDonald Charities, picking up trash on the roads, and serving at soup kitchens.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is a journey – not always a smooth road, but a road worth traveling. There are struggles that arise, but that’s with anything. I believe it is how we handle the struggles that really matter. I like to embrace difficult moments because I know there is always something to learn from the experience. And typically, it strengthens me for something else down the road.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am not your typical nonprofit consultant. I bring a casual, yet professional, approach to my work and I am committed to helping nonprofits find the solutions that work for them to build sustainable business models. I am a Philanthropy Thought Leader, Speaker, Author, President & CEO that works alongside nonprofit organizations and leaders to build sustainable and scalable business practices.

If you like to HAVE FUN {+ a few laughs} while making a BIG IMPACT in your community, you have met your match! In fact, if you visit my website – you will see what I am talking about. My website shows my personality and passion for the work I do.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I am grateful for the mentors – both professionally and casually – that have helped to shape my career. My advice for finding a mentor is to find someone that will be just as authentic with you as you are with yourself. Stop faking it until you make it. Be real and find someone that will hold you accountable to your goals.

What has worked well with me is knowing who I am at my core. Knowing what my personal mission, vision, and values that have helped me to identify those complementary traits in others.
