Today we’d like to introduce you to Jely Pino
Jely, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Utah has held a special place in my heart since childhood. As a young kid in Venezuela, I would often hear American youth passionately recount their adventures in Utah while volunteering in our country. It was only when we grew up that I had the opportunity to visit Utah for the first time, and it was love at first sight!
After more than ten years of exploring Utah and experiencing life as students and immigrants, I decided to share our family adventures, often spontaneous and always unforgettable, with the Hispanic community. My mission is to inspire Spanish-speaking families who are building new lives in Utah to create cherished memories with their loved ones. I also aim to motivate travelers from around the world to discover the wonders of local, national, and international tourism.
After almost 3 years, I have been able to build a community of over 80K across accounts.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been pretty hard. My biggest challenge is finding the right people to work with. A lot of businesses think that our job as content creators should be free advertising for them, but that’s not sustainable in the long run.
Another challenge is balancing time between family, work, and personal life. Working in social media requires a lot of time and involvement, but I don’t want to miss out on my kids’ precious moments because I’m stuck behind a screen. Quality time with my family is very important to me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I studied Social Work in my home country, and family and children have always been topics I deeply care about. When I moved to the United States, I was unable to continue my social work practice, so I had to find a new path. A friend noticed my artistic skills and encouraged me to try face painting—she gifted me brushes and paints, and that’s how I started what became my first business, Colory Faces.
For over nine years, I have proudly served the Utah community as a professional face painter. Bringing joy to children and families through my art has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to create unforgettable memories for so many people.
Because my work led me to participate in numerous events and visit fun places, I realized that many in the Hispanic community were unaware of the local entertainment opportunities available to them. This inspired me to create Utahmania, a social media platform dedicated to helping the Hispanic community discover exciting things to do in Utah. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a career.
Today, I specialize in creating family friendly organic content that helps businesses connect with Utah’s rapidly growing Hispanic community while increasing their brand awareness. Through engaging and authentic storytelling, I bridge the gap between local businesses and a vibrant audience eager to explore and enjoy new experiences.
What’s next?
One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world with a purpose. Doing humanitarian work would be another way to inspire others. My passion for social work, travel, and exploration would come together in this journey.
