Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Dean.
Hi Jen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out renovating homes with my husband—I focused on the design while he handled the building side. Together we built a strong business, but over time I realized I was feeling drained. I loved the design work, but I wanted to stand on my own and build something separate. In 2020, he took over running the business independently, and I began taking on my own clients. From there, it’s been a journey of growth, and I haven’t looked back.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. In 2022, my husband had a heart attack, which forced me to reevaluate every major life decision—including my business. It clarified how short life really is and how important it is to feel confident in the direction you’re choosing. After a lot of reflection and prayer, I realized that continuing my business was still deeply fulfilling to me. Through it all, my husband has been my biggest cheerleader.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the principal designer and founder of Jede Interiors, a luxury residential design studio. We specialize in new builds and large-scale renovations, with a focus on homes that feel timeless, grounded, and deeply livable. Our work is rooted in quiet luxury—thoughtful layouts, natural materials, and details that are meant to age well rather than chase trends.
What we’re known for is our process. We spend a lot of time upfront understanding how our clients actually live and then designing the entire home—layouts, elevations, materials, and details—before construction begins. That clarity leads to smoother builds, better collaboration with builders, and homes that truly function as well as they look.
What I’m most proud of is creating a studio that values intention over speed and longevity over flash. We design homes meant to support real life, and we stay closely involved in every project to ensure the details are done right. That level of care and clarity is what sets us apart.
