Check Out Katy Fay’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Fay.

Hi Katy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! I am an active, fun-loving human in her 20s who believes in exploring your passions and following your heart.

I discovered my passion for Yoga when my Mom took me to my first Flow Yoga class when I was 15 years old and I instantly fell in love with the entire experience.

The movements, the honest work and all the feel good energy of empowerment from overcoming challenging moments.

OH! And let’s not forget the “awwwee” sensations of warm, radiant, peace that blanket your entire being at the end of practice.

14 years later, Yoga has changed my life in extraordinary ways. From the way I transition in my poses on the mat, to the way I cultivate relationships, shop at the grocery store, take care of my body, do my laundry, eat and sleep etc! It’s all a practice devoted to love and connecting in harmony with all things present. I Love my practice deeply and I hope when the timing is right, (if you haven’t already) that you find practices you Love!

Aside from getting sweaty in the studio/gym. I enjoy the outdoors so…

Hiking has a special place in my heart because I get to adventure around, spending some of my best days EVER with my Husky boy Kona and friends who come along! 🥰

I‘ve had some pretty amazing opportunities to travel around the U.S. and hike so many beautiful states. And I think it’s safe to say, the West Coast, Hawaii, Arizona, Utah and Colorado have been some of my very favorite hiking destinations, with some of the most unique terrains.

I’ve hiked for elevation, distance, rock hounding, star gazing, treasure hunting, meditation, flower picking and pure enjoyment of the soul. And that’s why I say yes to adventures!

My Goal online is to provide a unique life service that inspires you to get up, get going and lean into your passions, moving closer towards your dreams and goals every day. I’m here to encourage you to believe that you are capable of anything you set your mind to and that you deserve to be happy, healthy and abundant in all of Life’s outstanding Beauty.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After 14 years spent in the Yoga/Fitness industry, of course, I have faced some challenges! Mainly moving on from studios/gyms and losing my full-time career to Corona… But I know that everyone has their challenges, so I try my best to see my struggles and challenges as opportunities to grow.

Aside from my professional life. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at 59 years old, in June 2020. Since then, I moved home to live with my family and help however I could. This is tragic to our entire family and anyone who knows my mother because it hit us so fast. I understand that not everyone is close with their mothers but that is certainly not the case for me. My mom has always been at the other end of my phone or in the driver’s seat, she’s my best friend, Role Model, Hero, Angel, Fitness inspiration etc….

To watch her digress mentally and physically is something I thought I would only see you in my nightmares. And even writing this now makes me cry.

I miss my Mom more than anything in the world and to imagine a life where she goes crazy and I lose our relationship steals my joy instantly. Earlier this year, my little brother and I watched her and helped her go through some of the most terrifying Seizures that went on for weeks, this sickness made me feel angry and bitter and at one point, the pain was so great I had thoughts of suicide but that was my wake up call. I wouldn’t allow myself to lean into dark feelings because the Love I have to be there for my Mom is too strong.

Deep down, I know I’m learning the lesson of a lifetime and some days, I just don’t know what to do because a part of me is still in shock and simultaneously grieving the relationship with my Mom even though she is still here.

I used to cry all the time because I wish we had more time together and I know she had so much more to teach/tell me. But the reality is. We can have more time together and we still do. It’s just not the way I imagined it… I’m becoming more accepting each day and learning to embrace change brings me happiness and the strength to overcome my struggle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Traveling Yoga and Fitness instructor! From Online teachings to in-person classes, Workshops and Retreats.. 😇 I’ve collaborated with Nike, Universal Studios, Barre 3 Online and more!

I absolutely love teaching and supporting others in their journey to grow towards their dreams/goals.

There’s something extremely special about guiding others away from their fears, struggles and limiting beliefs to achieve success in a Yoga practice/workout.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I had to think about this one for a little while because there are a few things I believe in to reach success. But when it comes down to it, I believe Commitment wins every time! If I am committed I will show up every day, I will make progress, I will make mistakes and learn and regardless of any challenge, if I stay committed, I will keep going!!
