Check Out Kristen Dalzen Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Dalzen. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jan Jacobsen opened Turiya’s in 1992, establishing a space for teaching, healing, and chakra work, and creating an opportunity for the community, a place of sanctuary and safety. Kristen Dalzen and Stephanie Pappas, owners since January 28, 2008, are continuing that mission.

People come to Turiya’s for a moment of stillness, to be uplifted and inspired, to find a meaningful gift for a loved one, and to find tools for healing and support on their journey. They sometimes experience an aha moment of illumination, a burst of laughter, or even a cathartic cry. We carefully curate every product, sourcing and purchasing only the highest vibrational material.

Exploring the shop is an invitation to fully engage all your senses. Chimes and glass orbs dance from the ceiling, fairies peek out from shelves, singing bowls and drums beckon to be played, crystals gleam and stones call out, and sacred symbols and statues surround the space. Our dove, Eme, coos, and sometimes taps on your selections, helping you with your final choices.

Turiya’s is like a warm embrace, a sacred space where people feel seen and held. We cultivate a sense of community and nurture relationships with our patrons.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Turiya’s opened on a wish and a prayer with the intention of inviting the SL community into an uplifting and healing environment. Originally we hoped to have a coffee house and book store but were denied by the city due to lack of parking.

As a result, we opened on bricks and boards as a gift store featuring handmade local artists. Our main challenge at that time was how to stay true to our vision, present alternative gifts (products such as crystals or any new age items) as well as training and classes. We wanted to offer an environment of inclusivity for anyone. This was our challenge. How to bring people together in a creative way and how to extend that invitation.

It’s amazing how quickly things have changed over 30 years. For example, a neighbor across the street use to call out to his friends trying to park “ya they do something called meditating and something about chakras?!”

Today, we celebrate 30 years as Turiya’s gifts and crystals. We support and celebrate the many healing modalities and the wonderful explosion of alternative stores throughout the valley.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Kristen Dalzen is a catalyst, conjurer, change agent, and provocateur. She’s passionate about inspiring, supporting, and coaxing students to draw out their authentic selves. In her signature Goddess Class, she leads her students to love their bodies, dance their dreams, and achieve their most juicy desires. She is also an internationally known Reiki Master and teacher.

Her style of healing is both deep and delicious. She will transport you to places in yourself you have forgotten and love you back to your natural state of pleasure and rapture. She will melt your defenses with her warmth. And she will flirt with the parts of you that need healing and weave in laughter with your tears in the most surprising ways. Most of all, you will feel totally seen and totally safe with her.

Kristen’s approach is groundbreaking and comes from decades of deep training and personal practice. From an early age, Kristen desired to be of positive service to the world. While studying to be a therapist in her twenties, she went through a period of deep existential crisis. With the emergence of repressed childhood trauma, she was compelled to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery.

In addition to undergoing therapy, she began to study Eastern philosophies of health and energy medicine. She realized that intellect alone could not fully heal. With deep respect for psychotherapy and the importance of doing psychological work, she also discovered that the body is an essential piece on the journey to wholeness. Embodiment is the path to cultivate an authentic, joyful and vital presence. With this in mind, she began pursuing and exploring the vast diversity of healing tools and modalities.

She is a master teacher of Reiki with 20 years of apprenticeship and 10 years of study and training in the chakra system, breathwork, and embodiment practices. Additionally, she has spent her lifetime in the study of world philosophies, mythologies, and comparative religions. She is a student and teacher of life, believing that healing, like the self, is always unfolding.

Kristen is a high practitioner in divine feminine practice and has studied with the pioneers in the fields of sensual movement and feminine awakening, Sheila Kelly and Regina Thomashauer. She is a graduate of The School of Womanly Arts Mastery Program, The Creation Course, as well as a licensed S Factor Teacher.

Without a doubt, Kristen is a healer. A client of many years describes the work she does as soul reclamation. She assists individuals in dealing with physical and emotional pain, loss, and a multitude of other blockages that get in the way of living an ignited, passionate life.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best aspects of our city are our diversity and the natural beauty surrounding us. The least would be air quality and pollution.
