Check Out Kylie Ochsenbein’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Ochsenbein.

Kylie Ochsenbein

Hi Kylie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Seven years ago, as a mother of two looking for a way to make an income that allowed me to be home with my daughters, I thought of something I was passionate about and good at & remembered when my twin sister left on her mission I became adamant about documenting the next two years so she didn’t miss out, as at the time I was 19 and newly pregnant & had never been separated from my sister, and we had a family camera that took great photos.

During this time, I became good enough that friends and family asked me to take their photos for senior pic or engagements when I thought back to this time I decided to invest in a camera & at least work until I paid it off at minimum, 7 years later it’s my full-time job along the way I made lots of connections & in 2020 I decided to start making TikTok’s for fun and it became a second stream of income.

If I’ve learned one thing from where I’m at today it’s this “You’re going to be bad at first, you’re going to fail your work won’t be the best and you might even feel stupid” but everyone had to start somewhere and life is a journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy, if it was it probably wouldn’t have been with my time, during the last 7 years I’ve experienced pregnancy loss, divorce, and my baby sister taking her life, I let the losses in my life be my drive and not my demise. Your mind is such a powerful tool and every chance you fail is an opportunity to grow & learn from.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve owned and operated kandcphotgraphy for 7 years, and I’ve done influencing for 3 years now, I’ve had the opportunity to be in music videos, commercials & podcasts I’ve not limited myself to a niche something I’m very proud of is I’ve helped other people overcome their struggles by sharing mine. I’m known for co-parenting with my ex and making relatable lineman content.

I’ve built an online store selling lineman merch through kyygirlapproved I’ve done suicide walks and pictures for families who have lost their loved ones due to self-harm I don’t fit in a box and this journey all started with a dream to be home with my daughters and taking a chance on myself with a $1,200 camera and a dream to pay it off.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see AI editing being a thing of the future, I see myself continuing to grow and having gratitude for the many years.

I struggled before having success, in 5-10 years pictures and influencing might be a thing of the past but who knows, people pay millions of dollars for marketing and advertisement and billboards are a thing of the past, but quality content, images, and personality will always be something real people appreciate.

Pricing:

  • Average Utah pricing for pictures is $350 an hour.
  • Utah is one of the lower-paid states I get paid double that in other states because Utah is very saturated.
