Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Bowdle.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Park City Utah, I was not a fan of Winter Sports or snow, I was a super shy chubby kid. I grew up as an only child and I had a babysitter who was my role model. I copied everything she did.
Wanted to dress like her talk like her, own the same toys as her, listen to the same music as her. She was like the older sister I never had. She was actually the one who introduced me to dance since I copied everything she did. Crazy enough, I actually found out that I was a natural and quite good at it.
It helped me get in shape and gain more confidence. It feels nice to go from being made fun of your whole life to finding out that you are incredibly talented and passionate about something. So I dove deeper into dance and worked my butt off taking classes progressing and competing in the field of dance at very high levels all throughout my middle school and high school years.
I didn’t have much time for many things and that consumed majority of my time growing up. The goal was actually to be a professional dancer. I made that dream a reality by making it in the movie Disney Movie High School Musical when I was 18 problem was after that was over now what. I auditioned for other companies in Utah and my dream was to be on Odyssey Dance Theater, but a year after I was shot down for not having the right body for the company. That’s when I discovered snowboarding see when I went to the University of Utah, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.
So I started out as a dance major, but I was in the Modern department because I wasn’t skinny enough to be in the Ballet Department, but Modern was considered really weird and I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder because it was nothing like the field of competitive dance I came from People had sickled feet and couldn’t even do the splits. So I take a snowboard class and that is where my life shifted. I had been an uptight dancer my whole life and I was like holy crap what have I been missing out on my entire life this is awesome. The snowboarding and Skiing Culture and lifestyle were laid back, stylish, people were so much fun.
They spoke their own language after that class in college, I became addicted. So I bought a season pass every year for the last 15 years and went every day. Basically working a slew of odd jobs my entire 20’s so I could keep the ski bum dream alive. I dropped out of college and actually went and got my cosmetology license. I did hair in a salon for 6 years and hated every minute of it. My entire life I had been crafted around freedom that’s what made me happy and living the way I wanted to live even if that meant working 3 part-time jobs just to live in Park City to make that happen, but as you get older and enter different seasons of your life different things begin to become more important to you.
All my 20s money was never important to me until you wake up one day and can’t sustain the life you’re living anymore. That’s when I started getting really into personal development and Brendon Burchard and reading books, listening to podcasts, and going to seminars, and thanks to my dad he said Nicole go get your Real Estate License you would be great at it. So I did. I always knew I wanted to be my own boss, I hated rules and I hated being obligated to show up to a job. I am someone who needs to be able to make my own schedule. When I first got into Real Estate I made the mistake that everyone makes and you turn yourself into a weird billboard and bench ad.
You become a walking salesman and copy what every real estate agent is doing in your town because you don’t know any better and unfortunately it’s the industry it hasn’t changed in 1000 years. No one wants the industry to change and innovate. I was lucky because I had a good SOI so 6 months into becoming a Real Estate Agent, I was able to sell 5 houses. However, they all moved away and no one gave me referrals. So NOW WHAT. This is the point where social media is starting to really become a thing. I am learning from online marketers and I remember watching a youtube video with a guy named billy gene is Marketing and Ed Mylett he said if you don’t start implementing video into your business then you will be out of business in 5 years.
I took that super seriously and it lit a fire under my butt. The next day I got hit with an ad on Facebook From a Lady name Karrin Carr she was selling a course helping Real Estate Agents use youtube to build their dream business never cold call or door knock again. I bought the course and Got to Work, and here I am! Attracting $5- $7.5 Million Dollar Buyers looking to relocate or buy vacation homes in Park City entirely from my youtube channel. I don’t sit open houses, cold calls, or door knock I use the power of Youtube and the Evergreen Content Platform to attract my ideal clients strait to me 24 hours and day 7 days a week I am building a machine, and I using it to build the business I will need to have 15 years from now.
Youtube is how I will not be selling homes when I am 70 years old like most of the agents around me. Fast Forward to now. I think of myself as an entrepreneur first, a Marketer Second, and a Real Estate Agent 3rd. I also started diving into the world of TikTok because I have been on a Gary V Train. I posted one video and it got over 920K views. The power of social media is real but you have to have a clear vision and strategy in place and use it like a business-minded person and not as a hobby. Don’t be afraid to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing in your industry. I am running my business my way and it’s paying off.
I love surrounding myself with other successful entrepreneurs in all different industries and learning from them. I recently joined a group called E.L.F coaching it leads to Genius Network. My dream is to become a Genius Network Member. That is the next chapter on the Horizon. Make and Launch a Youtube course for small business owners, write a book, start a podcast and keep growing my youtube channel and serving people at the highest levels possible through online digital marketing and video content creation.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being in an expensive market, prices 90% of Buyers are out. Learning to talk on camera. Learning how to edit a Youtube video. Buying the gear, to shoot videos. The audio, the lighting, the setup it’s a whole thing. Learning how to even use youtube the right way. Having to buy courses and learn from others. Learning how to articulate my value through video.
The art of being a good communicator and leader. Dry Spells, there are times when you sell a lot of homes, and then it takes 3 months to get something going again. Not financially preparing yourself or saving money. Wasting money on advertising that’s not working or is a waste of time. Other agents coping all your social media posts or steeling your marketing.
Having Zero Support no one understands what you do, or why you make videos. Fear of others’ opinions of you. Haters, and trolls.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a real estate agent who leverages the power of video and the platform of youtube to run my business. I am most proud of my youtube channel where I started and where it is now. I am proud that almost every deal I have closed has come from my youtube channel.
I am proud that I am almost monetized on the platform and that I have huge plans for the business I am going to be building on there. I am known for my social media, youtube channel, and TikTok. I am one of the only agents in my area who really used social media and knows how to make it work for them.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Clarity, authenticity, joining mastermind groups, the ability to challenge the status quo, be different and stand out.
