Hi Poe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, I loved to read books, and writing became a therapeutic way for me to heal from childhood trauma. I have a natural gift for words, and my brain is buzzing with creativity, which has turned into two romantic thrillers and a hilarious children’s book called The Dad Break that will be released in early 2023.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Motherhood became my greatest joy, but also my biggest obstacle when it came down to writing full-length manuscripts. Raising twin boys and a young daughter, there was just not enough time in the day with uninterrupted focus to write a complex thriller. So I switched focus and ended up writing a clever and hilarious children’s book called The Dad Break. My kids have loved being a part of the journey, and even though I still love writing shocking twists and turns, the children’s book genre has been such a fun and unique way to showcase my unique writing style, while focusing on raising a family.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The genres I write are vastly different. My children’s books are full of fun and clever rhymes that both adults and children love to read. And my romantic thriller style of writing is poetic and gritty. I’m the queen of twists and turns.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My grandparents lived in a small town; my favorite childhood memories include tagging along with my grandpa to the cow farm and feeding the baby cows, helping out in the garden, fishing the river, making huge leaf piles in the fall, and going to the rodeo and demolition derby.
