Today we’d like to introduce you to Santos Jaguar
Hi Santos, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 1986, Santos Jaguar’s family moved to the U.S. and settled in Lancaster, California. They later relocated to Salt Lake City in 1993. Santos began rapping at 12 and started freestyling with hip-hop beats alongside a neighborhood friend. His debut single, ‘Bien Buena,’ co-released with another artist, received widespread exposure after Pelon from Caballos Del Norte gave it a world premiere, significantly boosting Santos’ career and earning him numerous critical accolades on radio and TV.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced struggles, especially during my middle and high school years, where I dealt with people making fun of me behind my back. Teasing about my music career was common, with many telling me I wouldn’t go anywhere with it, labeling me as just a ‘Boys and Girls Club rapper.’
Additionally, he encountered rejection from promoters who felt he didn’t fit neatly into any specific music scene. ‘I was caught in between,’ he explains. ‘I was blending Spanish Latin music with rap, but I wasn’t hip hop enough for one crowd and not Latin enough for another. This left me feeling like I didn’t belong anywhere.’
These challenges were compounded by a lack of appreciation for his craft, as many promoters were unwilling to pay for his performances, failing to recognize the value of his artistry. Despite these obstacles, he remains determined to carve out his own space in the music world.”

Also known as Santos Jaguar, Mexican US-born singer, songwriter, and producer offers a melodic, welcoming take on Latino rhythms like Cumbia and Reggaetón fused with Hip Hop with lyrics half-sung, half-rapped, and often switching between Spanish and English.
