Check Out Tamra Simons’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamra Simons.

Hi Tamra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been married to my husband Darren for 30 Years after being set up by my cousin who lived across the street from him. After introducing ourselves, we spent the entire night talking and watching the sun come up the next morning. Darren and I just clicked and we married 3 months later. My soulmate.

After being married for about a year or so we become foster parents and one of the children we had for a short time the parental rights of Tyler’s biological parents had been taken decision already had been made we adopted our son Tyler. The next best day of my life aside from the day Darren and I eloped. We then decided to move to my hometown of Fillmore.

Darren and I enjoy recreating in our Rv whether it’s camping in the mountains or traveling around the country. My husband is my best friend and I love the time we have together making memories.

My husband and I lived in Fillmore and he worked as a mechanic for Utah State Parks and Recreation and worked a 4-day work week allowing us to live in my hometown and raise our foster children who were like our own, when we were given the opportunity which we were we adopted our son. I decided that I wanted to become an appraiser in real estate in 2002 I would travel to SLC from Fillmore each day traveling one and a half hours each way I would work my managerial job from 5 am to 1 pm then go home grab my stuff and travel 2 hours north to Salt Lake City to make my class which was 6 pm to 10 pm once class was over I would travel back home I lost a lot of sleep but was determined to pass. It was a true struggle for a 32-year-old woman, wife & mother, after passing my exam and doing appraisals for about 2 years I decided I wanted MORE, so I began classes at Stringham Real Estate School. Studied hard and passed my test the first time around.

I received my real estate agent license in 2005 and with this new adventure happening my husband and I decided we needed to be in SLC so I could achieve my higher goals and help more people, so we got an apartment in SLC and lived 4 days a week in SLC and the rest at our home in Fillmore. This was the beginning of making the transition to moving full-time to the city. I chose this career path because I wanted to have our family together every day of the week, and provide for my family, in a career I could see myself doing for a long time, and I truly love serving & helping others.

When the market crash of 2008 happened my business made a shift, instead of getting out of the business like many did; I jumped into learning all I could to help others with short selling of their homes and walking buyers through purchasing these homes and there is nothing more rewarding than to see my clients achieve their dreams and something that they have worked so hard for.

I have 1 son and 4 grandkids 2 nieces and a nephew who I have watched grow as they’ve lived with us the majority of their lives they are all my pride and joy. My 3 furbabies I’m a true dog mom to Tank, Charlie and Missy all rescues I’ve had since they were puppies. I wouldn’t change a thing about the relationships within my family with my agents or all of my amazing clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Looking back to the beginning of my journey I wouldn’t say it went smoothly but it has been so worth it. Like any business and business owner, there are always challenges there are always obstacles along the way but it’s how you overcome them and who is in your corner that matters. Obstacles and challenges build character and confidence they make us grow and become who we’re meant to be. I know that whatever may come my way I’ll have the answers and a solution and if not I’ll find them. I always get to the finish line with my clients in hand.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
17-year veteran Realtor and a Certified John Maxwell Coach. I now help other Realtors grow engaged audiences, and take their real estate business to six figures consistently through coaching, mentoring and being a part of an incredible company building an international team while helping agents build successful businesses with the option to have an exit strategy with eXp Realty.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I am an experienced Real Estate agent in Salt Lake City, I help clients in surrounding counties and my hometown. I work with many buyers and think outside the box, I have found several off-market properties, for my clients and negotiate on their behalf with their best interest in mind. If you put your heart and soul into what you do, it comes back it’s very rewarding. It’s extremely important to me to build relationships that last longer than a transaction. Integrity, honesty, and loyalty are everything, not only in business but in any relationship really, but if you run your business in such a way and follow those values you can’t go wrong.
