Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Casper.
Hi Travis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Alpine Loop was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah, when three brothers decided to start a band.
Travis Casper on guitar and vocals, Brian Casper on bass and vocals, and Logan Casper on drums began Alpine Loop with a simple goal: make music, play shows, and see where it could take them. Over the next several years, the three brothers played wherever they could and eventually released the band’s first full-length album, Nothing Else Going On.
But like most bands, Alpine Loop didn’t stay the same.
Brian and Logan eventually moved out of state, leaving Travis as the last remaining member of the original lineup. What could have been the end of the band instead became the beginning of something new. Travis teamed up with his longtime friend Max Scholes, and together they revitalized Alpine Loop and began building the sound that would eventually become the band fans know today.
The new Alpine Loop took inspiration from the pop-punk bands that had influenced both of them, but they didn’t want to stop there. Travis and Max shared a love for heavier music and fast, aggressive guitar riffs, and those influences naturally found their way into the band’s songwriting. The result was a combination of catchy, high-energy pop punk and heavier elements that gave Alpine Loop its own identity.
Since then, Alpine Loop has had the opportunity to share the stage with some incredible bands, including Driveways, Icon For Hire, and Boys of Fall. The band also spent several years signed to Ghost Killer Entertainment, releasing an EP and a string of singles along the way.
Eventually, though, Alpine Loop decided it was time to take another step forward.
The band parted ways with Ghost Killer Entertainment and returned to being completely independent. Rather than slowing down, going independent gave Alpine Loop the freedom to decide exactly what kind of band they wanted to be and where they wanted to take their music.
That next chapter became Making A Scene, Alpine Loop’s second full-length album, released in 2026.
From three brothers playing shows in Pleasant Grove to a completely rebuilt lineup, record label years, major lineup changes, and now an independent second album, Alpine Loop has never been a band that followed a straight path.
And honestly, that’s probably fitting.
The band has always been about making music the way they want to make it — fast, loud, melodic, and unapologetically influenced by the music they grew up loving.
This is Alpine Loop.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Alpine Loop has never had the luxury of having everything go exactly according to plan.
Over the years, life has gotten in the way in a lot of different forms. The band started with three brothers, but eventually Brian and Logan moved out of state, forcing Alpine Loop to completely rethink what the band would look like. Lineup changes are never easy, especially when you’re trying to maintain momentum, but those changes ultimately led Travis to team up with Max and build something new.
Moving forward meant learning how to adapt.
We’ve had to balance the band with jobs, relationships, responsibilities, and all of the other things that come with being an adult while trying to keep a band moving forward. There have been times when it felt like everything outside of the band was pulling us in different directions, and keeping the momentum going took a lot more effort than simply writing and recording songs.
We’ve also had to learn how to become a better live band.
Playing shows is one thing. Playing them well is another. We’ve spent years learning how to perform together, tightening up our playing, figuring out what works on stage, and learning from the shows where things didn’t go exactly right. Every performance has taught us something, and the goal has always been to take those lessons into the next one.
Then there was the learning curve that came with navigating the music industry itself.
Working with a record label gave us opportunities and experiences that we wouldn’t have had otherwise, but it also taught us that being in a band means much more than making music. We had to learn how releases work, how to promote ourselves, how to communicate, how to plan, and how to navigate the expectations that come with working with other people in the industry.
Eventually, we decided to part ways with our label and become independent again. That came with its own challenges. Suddenly, there was nobody else to handle the things that needed to get done. We had to learn how to take ownership of every part of the process—from releasing music to promoting it and figuring out how to get people to hear it.
None of this has been easy, but every setback has taught us something.
The lineup changes taught us how to rebuild. Moving taught us how to adapt. Bad shows taught us how to become better performers. Working with a label taught us how the industry works. Going independent taught us how much we’re capable of doing ourselves.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned throughout all of this, it’s that progress in a band rarely happens in a straight line.
Sometimes you move forward by taking a step back, changing direction, and figuring out how to keep going.
That’s been Alpine Loop’s story from the beginning. We’ve had plenty of reasons to stop, but we’ve always found another reason to keep making music.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of Alpine Loop, Travis works as a CAD designer, balancing a career in a technical and detail-oriented field with his passion for music. Between work, everyday life, and the demands of being in a band, finding time for Alpine Loop isn’t always easy, but music has remained a constant part of his life.
CAD and music may seem like completely different worlds, but both give him a chance to create, solve problems, and turn ideas into something real.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When Travis isn’t making music, you’ll often find him lost in a good fantasy or science fiction book. He’s drawn to stories with immersive worlds, big ideas, and characters that feel like they’re living in a world of their own. Aka, he’s a nerd.
Some of his favorites include The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and Jay Kristoff’s Empire of the Vampire trilogy. He loves getting pulled into a completely different world and discovering the history, characters, and stories waiting inside it.
