Check Out Zak Osmond’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zak Osmond.

Hi Zak, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My passion for music started at the age of 3, when I started performing regularly alongside my father, Jimmy Osmond, at the Osmond Family Theatre located in Branson, Missouri. Through the years, I participated in many of my father’s productions around the world by singing, dancing, and playing a variety of musical instruments. In 2006, my family and I moved to Utah and my involvement in the entertainment business lessened, allowing me to focus more on school and sports. During the Christmas season of 2012, my love for live performance and music was rekindled as I had the opportunity to complete a residency at Busch Gardens Theme Park in Tampa, Florida. There I performed as a singer and drummer in daily shows to help entertain park visitors. After this experience, I was able to continue touring with my father and occasionally help as a member of his tech crew. In 2015, I became interested in DJing and it quickly became a creative outlet that allowed me to express myself through music in a new way. As a senior in high school, I was given the opportunity to perform at a fundraising event for the student body and it was electric! I knew in that moment that I had found something that I was truly passionate about. Immediately following a 2-year volunteer church mission in Japan, I decided to chase my dream of becoming a professional DJ and created my own event production and service company known as Oz Entertainment. I have been fortunate to perform at many concerts, weddings, corporations, and other private events since its inception in 2019.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As an entrepreneur and solo artist, it has always been a constant battle to be vulnerable and continually throw myself out there. There were times early in my career when I lacked confidence and held myself back from creating opportunities to grow my business. I have since learned that betting on yourself pays dividends and can be extremely fulfilling. Even though I’m a long way from reaching my personal goals, I have become acutely aware of the demands and rewards of strategic entrepreneurship. The road has been fairly smooth thanks to the constant support of many good friends and family in my life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a professional disk jockey, my responsibilities go far beyond just pressing play and saying a few words over the mic. In order to create lasting experiences for people, it is crucial to understand who is in the audience. I have developed an extensive knowledge of many genres and have enjoyed being able to connect with people from many different cultures and backgrounds through music. My ability to mix music live and create interactive experiences for all those in attendance sets me apart as a DJ. I attribute this to my diligent study of music theory and piano from the young age of 6. I have also developed a love for playing the drums and guitar over the years. I am proud of my ability to seamlessly blend songs together while keeping accurate time and mixing in key. My favorite part about DJing is the ability to have a positive influence on people through the music I play. Life can be extremely difficult but it becomes a little easier when you hear your favorite song being played on the dance floor. Truly, “where words fail, music speaks.” This is what helps motivate me to constantly find new music and improve my techniques.

I am actively involved in producing events in the community and am frequently hired to perform at other private functions as well (weddings, corporate events, school dances, private parties, etc.). Through consistent practice and experience, I have learned what it takes to make any event successful. I also take pride in my ability to effectively control and interact with crowds of people while following specific timelines and instructions given. I would love to be a part of your next event!
