We recently had the chance to connect with Claudine Pungu and have shared our conversation below.
Claudine , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, I’d hire me because I’m dependable and easy to work with. I care about building strong relationships and making sure the team succeeds, not just my own tasks
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Claudine, the creative mind behind a brand that specializes in balloon décor and luxury picnics Simply Charming Events LLC. My journey started when I helped my church with its annual anniversary celebration—that was my lightbulb moment. I realized how much I love transforming spaces and creating unforgettable experiences. What makes my brand unique is the attention to detail and the ability to turn simple ideas into elegant, Instagram-worthy setups. Right now, I’m focused on growing my business and bringing more joy and beauty to every event I touch.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I realized my self-worth. It changed how I approached opportunities and relationships—I stopped settling and started believing I could create the life I wanted.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yes, there was a time I almost gave up—especially when I realized I had the skills but no one would hire me. Later, I understood that giving up would never get me closer to my goals, so I kept pushing and believing that the right opportunities/people will come my way.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in this industry is that working hard alone guarantees success. Hard work matters, but I believe it’s just one piece. You also need to build genuine relationships, keep improving your skills, and create memorable experiences. People often hire you because of how you made them feel and the lasting impression you left.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People might misunderstand my legacy as someone who accepted defeat, but the truth is I fight my battles quietly and win in my own way. You don’t always have to be loud to prove your success—eventually, actions speak for themselves.”
