Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristie North
Hi Cristie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2017, I tragically lost my son, Taylor, to suicide. The impact of this loss on my family and me is immeasurable. In his memory, I established the Taylor Hagen Memorial Foundation, dedicated to honoring his legacy and ensuring that all who knew him remember his name and spirit.
Over the past eight years, our non-profit has supported families navigating the profound grief of losing a loved one, offering hope and encouragement as they move forward. We are also deeply committed to empowering youth in Utah, equipping them with coping skills to face their challenges and fostering a sense of community to ensure they feel loved and supported.
Our foundation is devoted to transforming lives by creating a welcoming environment for those who feel isolated. We aim to prevent other families from experiencing loss and to share Taylor’s story through our initiatives, reflecting the values he embodied.
Thanks to our annual fundraiser and the generosity of our donors, we are able to continue this vital work, making a meaningful difference in our community and providing support to families in need.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have had incredible support from our community. Our struggles are through the continued losses we see and the lack of resources for those that continue the battle of mental health.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Taylor Hagen Memorial Foundation. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a non profit that is structured with a board that donates their time. We do not have any salary paid roles. The money that is raised is put back into our community to help make a positive impact on our people that are struggling with mental health, suicide ideation and the journey through loss
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I would say the support of the community that continue to support us through their annual donations has helped us to make the difference.
