Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
We recognized a clear gap in the wine industry between independent producers and buyers; it’s a challenge for most wine enthusiasts to access and experience the world’s top independent wines (or to even know that they exist!).
So, we set out to build a modern wine experience company to serve wineries, sommeliers, and wine buyers.
Sommsation was founded in April 2021, first with a focus on virtual sommelier-led tasting experiences, and we’ve since expanded our website to include a robust wine shop and other custom services for wine lovers.
Sommsation was born with the influence of a global pandemic, but with a long-term goal of being the market leader for independent wineries to do business to engage the entire wine ecosystem. Sommeliers are a key differentiator for Sommsation as educators, entertainers, and the service provider guiding a consumer’s experience through wine tasting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The wine industry is extremely complex and competitive. Our goal remains to simplify the complexity, for customers, wineries, and sommeliers alike, to really showcase the artistry and science of each glass of wine, in an enjoyable way.
Finding and sharing the stories of great wines and wineries, while connecting with customers has been smooth sailing. The challenges that every face tends to be the complexity of regulations, supply chain considerations, and even unpredictable weather conditions.

Beyond the wines you typically find en masse, there exists a whole world of exceptional quality wines from independent wineries. There’s a good chance you have yet to experience some of the most outstanding wines in existence.
Our wine-tasting experiences were created so you can conveniently explore new wines with doorstep delivery, wow your clients with a special bottle, or connect and celebrate any occasion with your favorite varietal.
Leveraging our team’s expertise in wine and technology, we’re unlocking the barrier between wine lovers and the world’s top independent wineries.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Park City has so much to offer year-round for people of all ages. Sommsation’s team especially enjoys the luxury ski resorts, outdoor recreation, and magic of the historical Main Street. Utah also has a unique history and strict laws and regulations when it comes to wine and alcohol.
We’ve observed a growing interest in wine, with several wineries and vineyards popping up throughout the state, which so many consumers have yet to discover. It wasn’t until recently that we were aware that Utah is home to several independent wineries and vineyards.
