Community Highlights: Meet Emilie Davis of Whole Essentials Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilie Davis

Hi Emilie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into holistic nutrition began with my own health struggles. I battled chronic Epstein-Barr virus and turned to functional and holistic medicine when conventional approaches didn’t provide the answers I needed. During that process, I developed a deep passion for nutrition and saw firsthand how profoundly it can impact health.

I also noticed a gap: while nutrition is one of the most powerful tools for healing, many health practitioners don’t incorporate it effectively into treatment plans. The same is true for gut health, which is the foundation of overall well-being. I realized that gut health is often overlooked, despite its critical role in addressing a variety of symptoms, from chronic digestive issues and skin conditions to mental health challenges and autoimmune diseases.

Motivated to fill that gap, I became a holistic nutritionist and seven years ago founded *Whole Essentials Nutrition*. Today, I specialize in gut health, offering functional testing, personalized coaching, and my *Signature Gut Restore Program* to help clients take control of their health. It’s been an incredible journey to not only help others heal but also to grow as a trusted resource for gut health here in Utah and beyond.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a journey of growth—both personally and professionally. Starting and running *Whole Essentials Nutrition* has required me to step outside of my comfort zone in so many ways. One of the biggest challenges was finding my voice and clarity in my niche. I’ve always been passionate about nutrition, but narrowing my focus to gut health and confidently owning that expertise took time and intentional effort.

Another challenge has been wearing all the hats as a small business owner. In the early stages, I was not only a nutritionist but also a marketer, website designer, social media manager, and bookkeeper. Balancing those roles while still prioritizing my clients’ needs—and my own health—was a learning curve.

Through it all, I’ve grown in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace being visible as an expert in gut health, and create systems to manage the demands of running a business. Each challenge has pushed me closer to the bigger vision I have for helping others heal and thrive.

As you know, we’re big fans of Whole Essentials Nutrition. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
*Whole Essentials Nutrition* is a holistic nutrition practice specializing in gut health. We help individuals struggling with chronic digestive issues, imbalanced gut microbiomes, and food sensitivities find lasting solutions through functional testing, personalized nutrition coaching, and sustainable lifestyle changes.

What sets us apart is our focus on uncovering the root cause of symptoms rather than masking them. Using advanced tools like the GI MAP stool test, I guide clients to understand their unique health picture and empower them with tailored strategies to restore balance.

I’m most proud of the transformative results my clients achieve. Whether it’s resolving lifelong digestive issues, improving autoimmune symptoms, or finding clarity on what foods nourish their bodies, seeing those breakthroughs never gets old.

Our flagship offering is the *Gut Restore Program*, a 9-month, virtual coaching program that integrates functional testing, personalized support, and group sessions to help clients heal their gut and reclaim their health. For those looking for more flexible options, I also offer meal plan consultations, downloadable resources, and group memberships through the *Gut Health Collective*.

At the heart of my brand is the belief that gut health is foundational to overall well-being. My mission is to be a trusted guide for those who feel stuck or overlooked in their health journey. I want readers to know that healing is possible—and it starts with the power of nutrition.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice to those just starting out, it would be: don’t try to do everything yourself. When I first launched *Whole Essentials Nutrition*, I wore all the hats—nutritionist, marketer, website designer, bookkeeper—and while it taught me a lot, it was overwhelming. If I could go back, I’d hire trusted professionals sooner to handle tasks outside my expertise. Delegating frees up your energy to focus on what you do best, which in my case is working directly with clients and creating impactful programs.

Another game-changer is leaning into your local community. Join networks, groups, and associations where you can connect with like-minded professionals and build relationships. Position yourself as a local expert by contributing to events, speaking engagements, or even pitching story ideas to local media outlets. Becoming a go-to resource in your area builds trust and visibility for your brand.

Lastly, give yourself permission to learn and grow along the way. You don’t have to have it all figured out on day one. Stay curious, stay committed, and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Surrounding yourself with a support system—both professionally and personally—makes all the difference.
