Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernanda Duron.
Hi Fernanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This all started when I was deciding on what career pathway I wanted to take once I started college. I was originally wanting to go into the medical field to become a nurse practitioner, but one day I randomly drove by Aveda Institute in Provo and I got curious to know what that place was. I looked it up and it was a beauty school. Then this idea of taking a leap year from college came upon me and I decided to give the beauty school a try. That’s when I realized I could do something for myself. Once I started beauty school I knew I wanted to focus on hair, but when graduation came I decided I wanted to do something for me and technically self employ myself. That is when I decided to focus on lashes instead, and since then I am grateful that multiple people have booked with me because my beautiful clients are the reason I am still in this industry. I have been lashing for 6 years now. I recently got brow certified and my main goal is to keep on growing my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest challenges thus far is trying to have a good work-life balance. I am currently working a part time job, so I try to balance as much as I can with scheduling out appointments and managing my work schedule. I also have struggled on making some time for myself, as it feels like my days are super occupied. In my case I love being busy, but I definitely struggle on at least putting some time aside for myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
LashLux By Fernanda offers all different lash extensions styles, from classics to mega volumes, from your normal black extensions to your blues and reds. I’ve recently began to offer brow services as well. I currently specialize in Freestyle sets! Not sure what to get it’s okay! We can mix and match and make the set feel like it’s meant for you! I am really proud of who I’ve become and where my business has gone! Never in a million years did I think that making that one decision back in high school was going to be the best decision of my life. I am proud of my past me for taking initiative. I am proud of my current me for not giving up and I am and will be proud of my future me because I know that that Fernanda will make decisions she will not regret. Because of that I believe that is what sets me apart. I take initiative, I try to make the best decisions even though if they may seem risky, but the more risk the more opportunity, and remember to never stop being yourself. Do not let things get to your head and make you change who you are as a person. You are your brand, and you want to represent your true self.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am inspired by all the beautiful business women around me. I am located in a building that is full of strong independent women, and each one of them inspire me, because we are all girls trying to make something for ourselves, trying to get our names out there and trying to be a role model for the rest of them starting. I definitely want to give credit to my beautiful family that has never stopped supporting me from the beginning, they went from being my models to my cheerleaders. I also want to shoutout @lash_cult.byvalerie, @bomblashesandbrows, for their amazing trainings, they have so much knowledge for the industry that they were able to teach me that has changed my perspective on how I do things.
