Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Judith Martinez
Hi Jasmine Judith , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in photography started when I was just 16 years old when I purchased my first camera while working at Walmart. Through the years alot of things happened, I graduated, worked in new places, got married, and had two kids of my own. Because of this, photography ended up taking a back seat in my life.
Starting January of 2024 I wanted that to change. I wanted photography to be a big part of my life again, so I quit my day job at a daycare I worked at, stayed home with my girls and put any and all free time into educating myself in regards to photography, I bought a second camera and learned my gear like the back of my hand. And I have now gained a following on social media when in the beginning of the year I only had 20 people following me. I have big hopes and dreams for the future, this is only the beginning for me. I’m so glad I took the steps needed to pursue my dream of becoming a photographer.
Utah is a “over-saturated” photography state many say, but I believe there is not a single photographer like another. There is always going to be someone who wants to work with you! This is what motivated me to push through the people who always said to pursue something different.
Photography to me isn’t just taking photos. It’s helping freeze time, emotion, and special moments forever. So that someday in the future anyone can look back and relive the feelings of that day. Reminisce in how beautiful the past may have been for them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy road. Some challenges have been life in general, competition mentality of other photographers.
being a mom of 2 kids is not easy sometimes and learning to balance that and my dream was definitely a learning curve. It takes a lot of patience and self discipline. But the outcome of that is so gratifying.
When other photographers get into your mind by making you feel less skilled or educated than them it can truly get to ones feelings. It takes plenty of self affirmation to keep one’s spirits positive to continue to pursue this as a career. I’ve learned to hear out other people’s opinions as constructive criticism. I know who I am as a photographer, I have come know my style and skill and I don’t question it. Is there more to learn? Absolutely! But I’ll never just give up or be made to feel less than by someone’s opinion because they are in a different place than I in the road of photography.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Judiths photography LLC ?
Judiths photography is my business I started in January 2024. I specialize in family, lifestyle, and portraits. I have recently begun to dig into weddings in July!
What sets me apart from other photographers is how much I care for my clients. I don’t just consider this a job where I take pictures and send them back and never speak to them again. I love getting to know who I’m photographing. I believe that the best experiences are those made with friends and each of my sessions I want to make an experience to remember with my clients. I try my best to keep up with past clients, whether that be social media or in person, if they also want to of course. I also try my absolute best, to work with any kind of client, introverted or extroverted. I understand how hard it is to be infront of a camera sometimes, I have been studying posing for all types of personalities and body shapes. Anyone can be beautiful and confident in front of the camera, and I learn constantly on how to guide people to feel that way Infront of my camera!
I want to say I’m known more for my wedding images.
I have a lovely mentor/friend who has been kind enough to take me under her wing and show me the ropes of wedding photography!
Brand wise I am most proud of the social media engagement I get, it’s not something that comes easy to me, getting people to like posts or find what I post entertaining but it’s also a learning curve so I am doing my best and I’m pretty proud of how much attention it has been getting!
I want readers to know that when you hire me, you’ll be getting someone who puts their all into getting those beautiful moments captured. Someone who will try their absolute best to get your kiddos smiling laughing and enjoying their time taking family photos. You are getting someone who doesn’t just see you as another client but as a friend who genuinely cares for you, and wants to see you happy with the results of our session.
I offer affordable photography services because I believe everyone should be able to afford beautiful images.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Michelle Brennan Albair has been someone who has taken me under her wing and guided me in wedding photography. She’s been an amazing friend and teacher. She was actually the one who introduced me to flash photography which has enhanced my photography skill immensely.
I also did a mentorship with Jarom and Shanesa. They are a wonderful husband and wife duo (photography and videography) they taught me so much in regards to posing and composition, and how to engage with clients.
And Markus Gatus has helped with any questions I have had editing wise! He’s an amazing person and so kind for helping me out when I was just starting out to learn editing in photography!
I appreciate these people so much because without them I would not be where I am today.
