Community Highlights: Meet Jill Savage of Floral Rhapsody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Savage.

Hi Jill, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into floral design started almost 27 years ago, almost by accident but also entirely meant to be. What began as a full-time job when I found myself pregnant as a junior in high school quickly turned into a deep passion. I was drawn to the creativity, the emotion, and the storytelling that flowers can convey. Over the years, I worked in various facets of the floral industry…gaining hands-on experience and eventually realizing that I wanted to create something that felt entirely my own.

By definition Rhapsody is an expression of feeling. I wanted to design florals that evoked emotion, that felt bold, luxurious, and a little bit unexpected.

Today my work is focused heavily on weddings and events, with an emphasis on high-impact floral styling. I’ve built a team and a reputation that I’m really proud of, and I continue to be inspired by the trust my clients give me to bring their most important moments to life.

In addition to my work in design, I’m currently serving my second term as the Director of Membership for the WIPA Utah chapter (Wedding Industry Professionals Association). It’s been such a rewarding way to connect with other professionals, give back to our local industry, and help foster a strong, supportive community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think there are many smooth roads in the Wedding/Event industry. One of the harder lessons has been learning to stay true to myself creatively.

In this industry, it can be easy to get pulled in different directions, trying to please everyone, match every trend, or fit into what you think people want.

But over time, I’ve learned that the more I leaned into my own voice and trusted my instincts, the more fulfilling and successful my work became.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Floral Rhapsody?
Floral Rhapsody is a floral design studio that specializes in weddings and large-scale events.
I’m known for creating floral moments that are dramatic, romantic, and layered with meaning…whether that’s a statement ceremony arch, a lush tablescape, or a bridal bouquet that feels like a piece of art. You will also catch us nodding to holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

We’re based out of our brick-and-mortar studio in Lehi, Utah, which serves as both a creative workspace and a home for our ever-growing collection of rentals and floral design inventory.

What sets my work apart is the emotional connection I try to bring to every design. I’m not just focused on making something pretty…I want people to feel something when they walk into a space.

I’m proud of the brand I’ve built because it’s deeply personal and it’s taken time to refine.

I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re getting more than just florals—they’re getting a creative partner who’s invested in making their event feel layered, thoughtful, and beautifully unforgettable.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The floral and event industry is always evolving.

One thing I’ve really noticed is how similar the floral industry is to fashion—trends come and go just as quickly. What’s considered “in” one season can feel dated the next, so it’s important as a designer to know how to interpret trends without losing your voice. I always try to stay aware of what’s current, but not be ruled by it.

I also think sustainability will play a bigger role in the next 5–10 years. Clients are becoming more conscious about where flowers come from, how they’re used, and what happens to them after the event. We’re already seeing more interest in locally grown blooms, foam-free mechanics, and repurposing floral installs.

I think we’ll see more collaboration across the board between florists, planners, venues, and creatives. The best events come to life when everyone is working in sync!
