Today we’d like to introduce you to John Young.
Hi John, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story to starting this business is a long time in the making. In August 2021, I retired from the Air Force Reserves after serving for almost 28 years. My time commitment to the military as well as holding a full-time job didn’t really give me an opportunity to look at starting my own business. My full-time job was a law enforcement officer and was also very time-consuming.
Throughout my life, I have always been someone who could fix things or build things, but I never pursued it as more than a side hustle or just helping out neighbors. When I came across the world of home inspectors, I immediately saw a way to use my experiences to help people understand their homes. Most homeowners do not have a real understanding of the major systems in their house and I’ve seen too many people get caught off guard when something major breaks down. I wanted to be able to step in a help educate homeowners about their house, and still be able to support my family. This is really what lead me to home inspections.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a new business is never an easy undertaking. That is part of the reason that I originally decided to become a WIN Home Inspection owner. Using the existing support of a nationwide brand helped to make the business a reality with minimal headaches. As with all new businesses, the struggle now is getting the brand known through the area and building trusting relationships with those in the real estate industry.
