Today we’d like to introduce you to McKenna Cleverley.
Hi McKenna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Cleverley Created Studio after years of being the behind-the-scenes support for small businesses and women-owned brands. I was often helping people make sense of their websites, systems, and marketing when things felt heavy or confusing. Growing up around small businesses in Northern California taught me how personal building a business really is, and that perspective still guides everything I do.
As my career evolved, I realized I didn’t just love design, I loved helping people feel confident and supported in their businesses. What began as taking on a few freelance projects grew into a full-service creative studio rooted in Ogden, Utah, now serving clients across Utah and the U.S. Today, my work focuses on building intentional websites, marketing systems, and brand experiences that feel elevated, intuitive, and deeply human. I’m proud that the studio has grown through relationships, referrals, and a shared belief that thoughtful design can genuinely change how people show up in their work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Navigating motherhood while scaling a business has been one of the most challenging parts of the journey. Learning how to grow without burning out, setting boundaries, and redefining what “success” looks like in different seasons has taken time and patience. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have a husband who truly supports me and values my work, which has made it possible to keep building while still being present at home.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the core of my work is bringing a client’s passion to life in a way that feels genuine, creative, and true to who they are. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with so many inspiring brands, but I hold a special place in my heart for women-owned businesses and founders from underrepresented communities. As a Mexican American woman, it’s deeply meaningful to help those communities bring their visions online and create digital spaces that reflect their stories, values, and ambitions.
What sets my studio apart is the way we approach design and strategy as something personal, not transactional. Whether it’s a business, restaurant, service, or creative brand, seeing someone step into sharing their work with the world is always powerful to me. We live in a time where digital presence matters more than ever, and I believe everyone deserves access to thoughtful, intentional design that helps them grow. I’m most proud of building a brand rooted in authenticity, creativity, and care, one that gives clients permission to be whimsical, bold, soulful, or whatever feels most like them while still building something sustainable and impactful.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
YouTube has been one of my most valuable resources. I’m a very visual learner, and I love being able to fully understand a platform, software, or app by seeing how it works in real time. I like to know how things function from the inside out, and YouTube made that kind of learning accessible early on.
Beyond digital resources, I learned a lot from my parents. They ran a small salsa company based on my great-grandmother’s recipe, and I grew up deeply immersed in the reality of small business ownership. We spent years working farmers markets multiple times a week and road-tripping across the state, so my parents could meet with grocery stores. At the time, I didn’t fully understand how formative that experience was, but looking back, it shaped everything about how I work today.
That unconventional background gave me a deep appreciation for the excitement, risk, and pride that comes with building something of your own. I carry that same energy into my work now, because I know firsthand how much heart small business owners pour into what they do.
