Community Highlights: Meet Melissa Caufield of Arrows & Antlers Candle Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Caufield.

Hi Melissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Arrows & Antlers Candle Co. Started out of my kitchen in Orange County, Ca. I personally struggled with health issues and decided I wanted to start making clean burning candles for my own home. From there, my hobby turned into a passion and from passion into a business. In June, I quit my full time job of 16 years, moved out of state and committed myself to Arrows & Antlers full time. I’m currently in Saint George, UT and I’m working on opening a retail location hopefully by 2023. My goal is to bring beautiful handmade, nontoxic candles that will bring a smile to your face.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think in owning any business, there will always be some kind of struggle. The key is to believe in yourself, keep moving forward and never give up.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Arrows & Antlers Candle Co.?
Arrows & Antlers Candles are hand poured in Saint George, Utah. Each candle is handmade with soy wax, cotton wicks and clean burning fragrances. Our fragrances are free from carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other potentially hazardous chemicals often found in fragrances.

What sets me apart is I truly care about my brand and what products I use. I personally hand make each candle and I enjoy doing it.

I’m most proud of how much growth I’ve had and how much I’ve learned through owning a small business.

What are your plans for the future?
My hopes and dreams are to open a retail location by 2023. I’m currently in the process of looking for a space. I would love to have a location where people can come in and make their own candles. I want my space to be a place where families and friends can come together, forget about their troubles and have fun! I also plan on having a front retail area where people can buy small gift items. If all goes well with my first location, I would like to open more locations in different parts of the state.
