Hi Phillip, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I first fell in love with the real estate industry when I was purchasing my first home. The excitement of searching for homes and the thrill of negotiating deals captivated me. At that time, I had a strong desire to obtain my real estate license, but I kept putting it off, and eventually, the dream faded into the background.
However, in 2017, something changed. I had a feeling that getting my real estate license was the right move for me, despite already having a great job. Although I couldn’t see the immediate point in pursuing it, my passion for real estate persuaded me to go ahead and obtain my license. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for that decision.
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, I, unfortunately, lost my job. Faced with the choice of going back to school and starting over or taking a leap of faith in myself, I decided to dive headfirst into real estate as a full-time endeavor. This turned out to be a pivotal moment in my life.
I joined a reputable team and wasted no time in immersing myself in the field. I committed to saying yes to every opportunity that came my way and to continually expand my knowledge and skills. Through hard work and dedication, I have not only built my successful team but also secured a spot on a local television show called ABC4’s Real Estate Essentials. In addition, I have become an award-winning top producer and a respected real estate coach.
Looking at how far I’ve come, I’m incredibly proud of my accomplishments in the real estate industry. It all started with an impression, a simple love for the process, and a decision to bet on me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Upon reflection, I realize that while my real estate career may appear smooth in hindsight, the reality is quite different. The most challenging aspect has been navigating the emotional roller coaster that comes with this profession and learning how to cope with it effectively.
One of the greatest sources of stress was the realization that the responsibility for providing for my family, including mortgage payments, food, clothes, and everything else, now rested solely on my shoulders. Unlike a traditional 9-5 job where a paycheck is guaranteed, in real estate, there are no guarantees. Simply showing up and putting in the hours doesn’t automatically translate into financial compensation.
Gone were the days of clocking in and out, only to receive a paycheck at the end of the week. The uncertainty and unpredictability of the real estate industry introduced a new level of pressure and demanded a different mindset.

How do you define success?
To me, success is synonymous with happiness—a state of contentment and fulfillment. It involves continuously striving to improve oneself and making progress toward personal goals. I find great inspiration in a quote by Tony Robbins, who aptly states, “Progress equals happiness.” This resonates with me because I believe that when we experience growth and advancement in our lives, we feel a genuine sense of joy and satisfaction.
True success lies not only in achieving goals but also in finding joy in the journey. It’s about relishing the process, enjoying life, and embracing the wonderful game called life. When you can make progress toward your aspirations while maintaining a sense of happiness and fulfillment, you are truly winning. Success is not solely defined by external markers, but rather by the internal sense of contentment and the continuous pursuit of personal growth.
