Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa McGuire.
Hi Rosa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After many years of failed attempts at life’s struggles, I was given an opportunity that changed my life for the first time in a positive way! I graduated from a treatment program where I met my now future husband and we began our life together. We moved into a studio apartment with nothing but a few items each and devoted our time to work.
I was cleaning rooms for Red Rock vacation rentals when the start of the pandemic happened and was laid off. I was very worried about what to do and then I thought about starting my own cleaning business, I mentioned it to a friend I had been working with and she was in. We met up for coffee and made a business plan. We had a few properties that stayed with us through the transition to Modern Touch Cleaning.
About a year went by and my then business partner was wanting to go her separate way and walked away from the business and left everything up to me. I was very overwhelmed with our first year of taxes a week away the thought of giving up was weighing heavy but through some encouragement from my son, Harley, and my fiancé, Marcus I handled everything one day at a time and it all worked out.
I’ve been able to meet some amazing people and have great relationships with the owners of the properties I clean. I absolutely love what I do and I’m so proud of myself for not giving up and can’t wait for Modern Touch cleaning to grow so I can expand and one day has a crew that will love cleaning as much as I do. I’ve been extremely lucky to have other business owners in my corner cheering me on like a mob boss!!
They are such role models to me!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not smooth at all.
I had to learn the hard way a few things along the way for example Taxes were a huge struggle for me to understand that paying quarterly is the way to go. Another struggle has been being able to say no and not take on more than I can handle.
I don’t like telling anyone no or not being able to fit people into my schedule but I’m only one person and can only do so much.
As you know, we’re big fans of Modern Touch Cleaning. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Modern Touch Cleaning is a local (STR) vacation rental and residential cleaning business.
We provide services that include standard cleaning, deep cleaning, spot cleaning, organizing, and commercial cleaning you name it and we clean it!! We specialize in vacation rentals and love what we do!
I make sure that when a guest walks into the rental they enjoy every moment make memories and leave wanting to return to that same unit! I treat every property like it is my own. In these modern times who has time for cleaning?
I also provide biweekly services and offer discounts depending on how many cleans per month.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family! When I see my family I’m reminded of everything I have worked for and all of the times I wanted to give up but never did!!
I have been through a lot in my life and have had my fair share of struggles but every morning I wake up I tell myself I’m amazing and if I did it yesterday I can do it today!!
