Community Highlights: Meet Sal Soberanis of Sobe Eats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sal Soberanis.

Hi Sal, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?

Sobe Eats was founded by The Soberanis Brothers: Salvador, Fernando, and Victor, three accomplished professional chefs from the Salt Lake City area each with 25+ years of experience in the culinary industry. We began our culinary story right here in Salt Lake. We opened restaurants at Grand America, the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown, and the Margaritaville Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, to name a few.

We are a catering company with food truck services, our own drive-thru location in Sandy that has to turn its first year, and concessions locations as in U of U, BYU, and the newest one in Vivint Arena.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The most relevant now would be the Pandemic and of course lack of staffing. During the pandemic, we got creative to meet everyone’s needs and collaborated with our friends of San Diablo Churros and thirst drinks to offer a Quarantine Survival Kit so we can keep working and giving new options to our clients. And before the pandemic would be growth capital.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a catering company with food truck services, our own drive-thru location, and concession locations in the Salt Lake City area. We offer Elevated Mexican Food and the highest quality, most unique concepts on the market today.

We are a sustainable company and 95 percent of our products are sourced locally. We believe in supporting local farms and small businesses. We are a family-owned and operated business producing artisan gourmet versions of everyday Mexican-inspired street food using fresh, local, high-quality ingredients.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
We love the community, Utah emphasis is a community, the community is very supportive when you give them something new and innovative.

No dislikes, just learning curves that everyone faces operating any business. As new business owners, there is a lot to learn about permits, laws, city restrictions. But it makes it worthwhile in the end and makes it easier if you continue to grow.
