Community Highlights: Meet Scott Garcia of Advent Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Garcia.

Hi Scott, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been passionate about self-defense ever since I was young and started training in Karate and other martial arts.

When I turned 21, I obtained my concealed carry license and took my first handgun training course. The training environment instantly captivated me and I found myself investing over 800 hours to refine my skills with handguns.

Given that I conceal carry, being proficient with a handgun is crucial. As a result, I decided to start my own handgun training company, where I focus solely on this particular weapon.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As someone who encounters obstacles frequently, I’ve come to accept that they’re just a natural part of the journey.

In my day job, I work as an analyst, which means that I have an analytical personality and professional skillset that aid me in overcoming any challenges that come my way and I enjoy it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Advent Training?
I’m passionate about helping people become proficient in self-defense. With 15 years of experience, nine instructor certifications, and over 800 hours of handgun training, I have the skills and expertise to guide you toward reaching your full potential.

I founded Advent Training in 2020 after becoming frustrated with other training courses. My aim is to provide personalized classes that cater to your unique needs, as I believe there is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to self-defense.

As an analyst by profession and personality, I am data-driven and find it to be the most efficient and quickest way to a solution. I have trained with some of the best instructors in the industry, and I understand that training is an investment of both time and money.

Unlike cookie-cutter teaching methods that fail to acknowledge individual skill levels, I strive to tailor instruction to each student’s needs. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential, and that’s what drives me to seek out every handgun owner and help them achieve their goals.

I have trained with some of the most respected names in the industry and I’m committed to continually improving my skills and knowledge. If you’re looking to take your self-defense skills to the next level, I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and it began to take shape early on in elementary school when I started my first side hustle selling cinnamon toothpicks. It was a hit with my peers and demand grew so quickly that I had to enlist the help of other kids to keep up with the orders.

I remember one particular day when we made over $300 in sales – it was an exciting moment for all of us. To celebrate our success, I treated the entire team of 20 to ice cream from McDonald’s. It felt like a small gesture, but it was a rewarding experience to share the success and hard work with others.

That early taste of success fueled my passion for entrepreneurship, and I’ve continued to pursue opportunities to create and innovate ever since.
