Today, we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Tarnasky.
Hi Stephanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my business in 2010, 6 months after getting married. I was selling jeans out of my apartment and participating in craft fairs. After doing that for three years, we decided to open our first storefront.
We now have 5 locations, have rebranded to Love Olive Co. after my daughter Olive, and are so excited to finally be in Utah. Our business first started in Rexburg, Idaho, and we are now located in Rexburg, Idaho Falls, ID, Layton and Provo, UT, and Gilbert, AZ.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Fashion is a hard industry because it is always changing. We have grown from just me and my husband to 70 employees and have really taken on a lot of different economies and fashion trends that have come and gone.
We truly have been blessed with amazing employees and great locations. But running a business is not easy. Being a business owner, wife, and mom has come with its own challenges.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Love Olive Co?
Love Olive Co is so much more than clothing. Yes, we sell cute clothes, but I love the community. I love walking in the store and getting to know my customers. I love the connection I feel on social media when we can come together and get through hard things together.
Something that I have really enjoyed doing is designing for Love Olive. We always have our customers in mind, and we love coming up with fun new pieces. I feel like that is something that really sets us apart.
The designs we make come in xxs-3x which I have worked really hard to accomplish. Our customer base is typically 20-40-year-old women who want to feel good and yet still comfortable in their clothes.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I feel like I am a risk-taker. Opening up stores is a big risk, but I am willing to do it to reach more people. I also have been in this business so long risks do not scare me as much anymore.
