Community Highlights: Meet Tera Stephanie Prestwich of The Brow Bar Institute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tera Stephanie Prestwich.

Hi Tera Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for most of my life. I started behind the chair as a hairdresser, and nail tech, and eventually owned five salons across three states. But even with decades of experience, I’ve always believed in evolving—so I went back to school, earned my degrees BS COMM, MPS organizational Leadership, and began teaching business, branding, and leadership.

Then one day, I got my brows done—and they were terrible. Uneven, overworked, and just not what I expected. I was heartbroken. But instead of spending more money trying to fix them, I decided to invest that money into school and learn how to do it myself.

That one decision changed everything.

I fell in love with microblading. I didn’t just learn the technique—I found my passion again. I realized I could combine my love for artistry with my gift for teaching and my heart for helping women build something bigger. That’s how The Brow Bar Institute was born.

Now, I train artists across the country in PMU and permanent brow artistry, blending beauty with business in a way that’s never been done before. This isn’t just about brows—it’s about empowerment, confidence, and creating a legacy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not even close—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This journey has been full of detours, breakdowns, and restarts. I’ve dealt with financial setbacks, team drama, shady partnerships, and the exhaustion that comes from being a woman who does it all. There were moments where I wanted to quit, and moments where I did.

But every challenge taught me something. I learned how to lead better, build smarter, and trust myself more. I went from trading time for money behind the chair to creating systems, digital courses, and passive income that gave me freedom.

One of my biggest turning points was realizing that being talented isn’t enough—you need strategy, mindset, and mentorship. That’s what I had to fight for, and that’s what I now give to every artist I train.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been real—and it’s been worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Brow Bar Institute. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At The Brow Bar Institute, we don’t just teach brows—we build beauty empires.

I specialize in permanent makeup artistry, with a focus on microblading, machine brows, eyeliner, and lip blushing. But what makes us different is that we go beyond the technique. We train artists to not only master their craft, but to confidently launch their own business, attract dream clients, and scale their income with style.

My course isn’t a typical brow class—it’s a career blueprint. I’ve taken 20+ years of hands-on experience, salon ownership, leadership training, education and branding expertise and poured it all into an elite-level certification experience. Students learn the art, the business, the mindset, and the marketing behind it all.

What sets us apart? Results, energy, and transformation. I’m not here to gatekeep—I’m here to hand over the entire playbook. And we do it with luxe materials, stunning course design, and one-on-one support you won’t find anywhere else.

I’m most proud of the fact that women leave my program with confidence—in their skills, their brand, and their future. Whether they’re starting from scratch or scaling something bigger, I’ve got them.

We offer a full PMU training manual, private mentorship, course licensing for schools, and soon—master resell rights. So even if you don’t perform services, you can still earn from beauty education.

This isn’t just brows. It’s legacy-level business for everyone—and we’re just getting started.

What matters most to you? Why?
Empowerment and integrity. That’s what it all comes down to for me.

I care deeply about helping women step into their power—financially, creatively, and spiritually. I’ve seen firsthand how beauty can be a tool for healing, confidence, and transformation. But I’ve also seen how easily this industry can take advantage of artists and clients when integrity isn’t present.

That’s why I teach the real stuff. I don’t just hand over a certificate—I mentor artists to lead with heart, show up professionally, and build something they’re proud of. I want them to make money, yes—but more than that, I want them to have freedom, purpose, and a brand that feels like them.

At the end of the day, I do what I do so more women can wake up and say, “I built this. I did this. And I’m not done yet.”

Because when one of us rises, we all rise.
