Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Falk.
Hi Tina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a Professional Feng Shui Educator, Chinese Astrologer, and Metaphysician, and the founder of VIA School of Feng Shui. My spiritual journey began back in 1992 in Minnesota, as I finished up my BFA degree in Visual Communications. My soon-to-be husband and I were preparing for our private and unique wedding to be held in the Black Hills of South Dakota, my birthplace.
We were curious about our union and creating a family together as questions rose to the forefront around our own beliefs and values. But it was through our move to the Salt Lake Valley in 1995 that my awareness began to expand a thousand-fold. We chose Utah, because of the church and its values for family, but religion was not our thing on any level. We were young and really felt guided to be here. What I soon discovered was a rich and supportive new-age community.
It seemed the more I asked, the more I discovered — the teachers and masters started showing up for me. I dove in headfirst, consuming all that they were willing to share with me, applied the lessons to my life, and then kept being curious. In 2005, I must have been ready for another big shift, as I met a local Feng Shui Practitioner who became my master, teacher, and mentor. The philosophy of these ancient teachings, along with all the other esoteric modalities (meditation, numerology, chakras).
I had learned seemed to fit so beautifully and perfectly together. It was easy for me like it was just a recollection of who I was at another time. And it was time for me to offer these years of study to others in a way that I could make a real tangible and spiritual impact in individual lives and the world as a whole. Feng shui is truly a way of life for me. A way of interpreting my world, the timing of events, relationships, and it informs my decisions around parenting, entrepreneurship, and life — from the simplest mundane aspects to the deeply complex life-shifting ones.
Revelations from my four Pillar Chinese Astrology charts provide new understandings and appreciations and readings for others have become an integral part of my feng shui services. In 2012, my Feng Shui Master gifted me her school. Since then, the year of the Dragon, I have been training and certifying feng shui practitioners all around the world. Each beautiful soul that traveled to sit in my classroom in person, or joined me virtually online, brings their own unique story and experiences, just like I did, making their own clever mark in this world through the eyes of feng shui.
It’s been an incredible honor to be able to pass along the gifts I have received from the incredible Masters who I have knelt before, from my Spiritual mentor Trina West GC to my Buddhist meditation master Thay Ba Huynh, my feng shui master Mary Shurtleff, my two children, and countless other influencers and guides.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
NO! It has not been a smooth road. The more you wake up, the more that’s been hiding in the shadows is revealed. When you walk through a dark space and start turning on the lights, the monsters and gunk that’s been shoved under the bed and hidden behind closed doors have no place to hide. You have to start to get real with it. And yes, it IS worth it… ABSOLUTELY!
Waking up is a healer’s journey. It’s deep, unpredictable, fearful, and painful. But when you have the appropriate guides holding the light for you, as you navigate the unknown, stirring up the stuff that’s been getting in your way of living a happy, meaningful, and purposeful life—it becomes your mission. You learn the value of staying the course, riding the waves, resting when necessary, and asking the right questions—then the journey becomes exciting and hopeful.
There’s something that ignites from within showing you the power of your own love and guiding light. We learn as little children not to trust our own intuition or needs. Oftentimes showing an emotion that an adult doesn’t have the capacity to handle so they shush you, telling you it’s nothing to cry about, or that you’re not hungry— cause you just ate dinner, or there’s nothing to be afraid of. We learned to surrender to authority figures, seeking outside of ourselves for validation and worth.
It’s a detrimental cycle that perpetuates itself generation after generation. The insights gained through an intuitive assessment of one’s personal and environmental feng shui are a portal to bringing you back into being the conscious co-creator you are. People often seek my counsel for external advice.
