Hi Venus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Venus Rings – My Story:
My story started in a big jewelry manufacturer company in Utah, surrounded by the sound of machines and metal dust in the air.
When I first applied, the manager almost didn’t hire me. He said the job might be “too tough for a woman” — after all, I would’ve been the only female in a shop full of men. But Im too stubborn to give up so easily, so I asked for one day to prove myself.
That one day turned into six years.
I started as a ring polisher and worked my way up, teaching myself new skills and mastering every process I could. Without formal training, I experimented and created my own epoxy techniques, ones that became the most successful in the company and are still used there today. My dedication and results changed how they saw women in the trade. After me, they started hiring more women, realizing that talent, discipline, and grit have no gender.
Eventually, I became the shop manager. But with time, I realized I was building someone else’s dream, not mine. I walked away. I left with nothing but my experience, my knowledge, and a fire to build something of my own.
That’s how Venus Rings was born, from the belief that beauty can come from strength, and that even the broken can be transformed into something extraordinary, that we are all capable of rebuilding ourselves into something stronger, brighter, and truly our own.
Now, every ring I make carries that message. I serve people who value authenticity, connection, and meaning. Couples looking for one-of-a-kind wedding rings or individuals wanting to celebrate life’s milestones.
In a world of mass production and soulless trends, Venus Rings stands for craftsmanship with purpose. I turn materials into memories and create jewelry that tells real stories — stories of love, resilience, and transformation.
Because Venus Rings isn’t just about jewelry, it’s about reminding people that strength is beautiful, that struggle can become art, and that even something as small as a ring can carry the weight of who we are.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but that’s what makes the journey meaningful. I started Venus Rings completely on my own, with no team, no investors, and no formal training in running a business.
Between my husband and myself, we used part of our savings and bought few tools at harbor freight and modified them because I couldn’t afford the tools specifically made for jewelry work. I had to teach myself everything: from jewelry design, diamond setting, machining, and epoxy chemistry to marketing, photography, and managing a brand. And Im still learning.
One of the biggest challenges was rebuilding my confidence after leaving a job where I gave everything and still wasn’t valued. I had to prove to myself that I could create something better, not just for me, but for others. Balancing motherhood, long work hours, and financial limitations while trying to grow a business has tested me in every way possible.
There were moments of burnout, moments when I questioned if I was capable of doing it all. But every challenge pushed me to learn, innovate, and trust my own hands. Now, I see those obstacles as part of what shaped Venus Rings — a brand built on resilience, courage, and the belief that beauty can come from pressure.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
What inspired me to start:
I started Venus Rings after years of working in a male-dominated jewelry industry where I constantly had to prove that a woman could do the “tough jobs.” I began as a ring polisher, and through curiosity, persistence, and countless hours of self-taught experimentation, I became the epoxy specialist — developing techniques and quality standards that raised the bar for the entire shop.
A few years later, without formal training or management experience, I earned the role of production manager, driven only by a desire to improve, to lead, and to give my best to my team and my employers. But after years of dedication, the growth I was promised never came. Instead of being valued, I was dismissed.
That was my turning point. I realized that if I could build someone else’s success from nothing, I could build my own.
Venus Rings was born from that spark, a vision to create meaningful, handcrafted jewelry made with purpose, precision, and heart. Today, every ring I craft carries that same belief: that beauty is forged through strength, and that even under pressure, we can shine.
What makes my journey unique:
Is that it was built entirely by hand, just like my jewelry. No investors. No shortcuts. No safety net. I even bought Harbor Freight tools and modified them for my jewelry business, because I couldn’t afford the ones that are made specially for jewelry.
But I had courage, curiosity, and faith in my own two hands. I didn’t come from privilege or connections, I came from persistence. I taught myself every skill through trial, error, and sheer determination, proving that mastery doesn’t require permission.
In an industry that wasn’t built for women, I didn’t just find a place, I claimed it!. I turned my small home studio into a place where art, science, and soul collide, a space where metal transforms into meaning and where my children see, every day, that passion and hard work can rewrite any story.
My journey isn’t just about making jewelry; it’s about transformation. It’s about showing that creativity has no gender, strength has no size, and success doesn’t need approval. My story is proof that even in a world built for others, women can build their own, beautifully, boldly, and unapologetically.
Challenges:
I’ve overcome more than just business challenges. I’ve overcome being underestimated, ignored, and told “no” one too many times. I left behind the oppressive government of my home country, Venezuela, with nothing but hope and the will to rebuild. I learned a new language, came to the United States and started over from zero, I rebuilt my life after an emotionally abusive marriage. I remarried, had two small children while working full time, and taught myself everything from epoxy chemistry to diamond setting, silversmith, photography, marketing, and branding. Every ring I make carries that same spirit of resilience. Every skill was earned through persistence, every setback turned into a lesson.
I’ve been underestimated my whole life, but I learned that when you stop waiting for permission, you start growing unstoppable. Every piece I make carries that same strength, beauty forged through pressure. And every ring I make carries that truth, that strength can be soft, beauty can be born from struggle, and under pressure, women don’t break, we forge.
One of the moments I’m most proud of was the day I learned to operate a metal lathe, a massive, roaring machine that most people didn’t believe I could handle. At 5’2”, standing in front of that heavy steel equipment felt intimidating, but the moment I turned it on and began shaping metal with precision, something shifted inside me. I wasn’t just making a ring; I was proving to myself that strength isn’t about size or gender, it’s about courage and persistence.
From that day on, every time I held a tool or finished a piece, I felt that same power, the confidence of knowing that I can master anything I set my mind to. It was in that moment that I realized: I’m not just creating jewelry. I’m shaping my own freedom. The day I finished my first ring from start to finish, I felt unstoppable. I had turned raw metal, something cold and unyielding, into something full of life and emotion. That ring represented freedom, mastery, and proof that I could create beauty on my own terms.
I want people to know that Venus Rings isn’t just about jewelry, it’s about connection, memory, and transformation. Every piece I make tells someone’s story. Whether it’s a ring made from a loved one’s ashes, a wedding band infused with a meaningful stone, or a custom inlay using something deeply personal, my goal is to help people preserve moments and emotions in a tangible, beautiful way.
I offer fully custom handcrafted rings and jewelry, made from materials that matter. I use modern metals like titanium, cobalt, or zirconium combined with unique inlays such as abalone, turquoise, wood, antler, or even sentimental materials that clients send me. Also I use the most traditional metals like silver or gold, and more high end designs including diamonds and other precious materials. Each piece is designed, machined, inlaid, and polished by hand — nothing is factory-made, nothing is impersonal.
At its core, Venus Rings stands for authentic craftsmanship and emotional meaning. It’s jewelry made with soul, precision, and heart, for people who want something real.
What I hope people take away:
When people see Venus Rings, I want them to feel what I felt when I first held a finished piece in my hands: the weight of transformation. I want them to understand that your beginnings don’t define your limits. You don’t need perfect circumstances, you don’t need permission, you just need heart, courage, and faith in your own hands.
I started with nothing but a vision and the belief that my story, my strength, could be forged into something beautiful. I was a woman who came from another country, overcoming years of abuse, rebuilding her life from scratch, learning a new language, raising children, and teaching herself everything she needed to know to create something meaningful. Venus Rings grew from that same determination, from the idea that beauty and resilience are born from the same fire.
But my dream goes beyond jewelry. I want Venus rings to be a place where people feel seen, valued, and empowered. I want to offer job opportunities to those who were once told they couldn’t, to teach skills that build confidence, and to create an environment where learning and growth are part of the culture.
I don’t want my employees to feel like they’re just workers; I want them to know they’re the motor that makes everything possible. I want them to come to work feeling proud of what they do, knowing they’re part of something that matters. Because jewelry isn’t just about metal and stones, it’s about meaning, purpose, and connection.
Every ring I make carries a piece of that dream, the belief that beauty can rise from struggle, that art can heal, and that under pressure, we don’t just shine… we evolve.
I hope Venus Rings reminds people — especially women, mothers, and dreamers — that you can start from nothing and still create something extraordinary. Because when you believe in your purpose, you don’t just build a business, you build a legacy.
Venus Rings exists to remind people that what’s forged by hand and heart can last forever, and so can the women who create it.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are so many ways people can be part of Venus Rings. The simplest way to support my work is by sharing my story, following my journey, and choosing handmade over mass-produced jewelry. You can follow my journey on my social media. Every like, comment, share, and purchase helps a small business like mine grow and keep creating.
For those who want to collaborate — I love working with photographers, creators, boutiques, and brands that value authenticity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Whether it’s for product features, styled shoots, or creative campaigns, I’m always open to partnerships that align with my mission to bring more meaning and artistry into jewelry.
I also collaborate with large manufacturing companies here in Utah, who trust me with their epoxy and inlay services because of the precision, durability, and beauty of my technique. That’s something I’m deeply proud of, knowing that even established brands rely on the quality and innovation that Venus Rings brings.
For individuals, I take custom commissions using sentimental materials: ashes, soil, antler, turquoise, abalone, and more. Transforming personal stories into wearable art.
Supporting Venus Rings means supporting a woman-owned, self-taught business built from resilience and passion. Every order, every collaboration, and every connection helps me move closer to my dream — building a workshop that can offer jobs, training, and opportunities for others who share that same creative fire.
