Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Perry.
Hi Will, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a licensed Physical Therapist in the States of Utah and Arizona. I completed my Masters of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University where my clinical rotations focused on the rehabilitation of injured athletes.
I went on to receive my Doctor of Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences, in Mesa, Arizona. I am originally from Idaho and grew up playing football and basketball and is what sparked my interest in human movement patterns and functional anatomy.
I have worked with a wide range of patients with orthopedic pathology throughout my career. I have worked with many professional, college, and high school athletes, including NFL players, and Extreme Sport professional athletes. I have been a part of the rehab team for the Arizona Cardinals and on the medical team for Red Mountain High School in Mesa Arizona. I have a special interest in treating and training athletes.
I utilize manual therapy techniques, functional exercise, and injury prevention strategies to optimize movement patterns in individuals with various sports and orthopedic injuries. I am the founder of “Speed Kills” agility and speed training for young athletes. My family and I moved to Utah 4 to 1/2 years ago to start a new Physical Therapy practice with a friend. On my first day here I received word that all of our financing and contacts were no longer viable. I struggled to recover the financing and pursued other avenues to no avail.
It turns out in Utah it is far more profitable to invest in tech companies than in Health care companies. I decided to open a small physical therapy clinic in the walk-out basement of my home. I just recently moved to a new location inside coreFit Studio Gym in Lehi. It is a fantastic gym and setting and is a great fit for the people I treat and helps get more joy out of life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being new to Utah, I essentially had no contacts in the medical community here. Since many people that are having pain or have injuries are referred by their physician It was a rocky start and continues to be a battle to be recognized by those referral sources. The vast majority of my patients come to me by referral from past patients or from searches online and positive reviews.
